If you book an onsite resort room only, do you have to pay for it in advance, or is that just for a package? Why should Disney have my money months before I stay in the hotel?

It depends on how you book your room-only stay.

If you book thru CRO, then a deposit equal to one night's stay is required within 14 days of making the reservation. The balance is due upon check in.

If you book thru WDTC, then a deposit of $200 is required within 14 days and the balance due 45 days prior to check in. I'm not sure but I think that this is because even though it is a room-only reservation, WDTC will book it as a "Basic Plan" package.

Cancellation policies and penalties also differ between the two systems. With CRO, you have until 5 days prior to your reservation to cancel without penalty. With WDTC, there is a $100 cancellation fee between 44 and 6 days prior to check in. With less than 6 days, you lose $200.

Since you've got a handle on this: I thought CRO was going away in favor of WDTC - or is it vice versa?
