Paying Tolls - Atlanta to Naples to Disney and Back to Hartsfield!

It may not be I4 now that I zoomed in on the google map--or it is now showing a different route--now it is showing utilizing 429 to 27 and then on to 75. Good thing we have GPS! I must be remembering one of the few times we rented a car at MCO and drove from there to Punta Gorda and back to Disney. I probably have my knickers in a knot about tolls for no reason at all since we are leaving Disney property and driving to I75 not to the airport.
You have two options on leave Disney and getting on 75 north. One is to go through Orlando on I4, no tolls but heck of a lot of traffic then hit the Turnpike (I think there is a way to avoid the Turnpike but I've never tried). The other is to take SR 429 (I think that is it) which is a toll road and will lead you into the Florida Turnpike, which is a toll road. That will run into 75 north.

Oh, and Atlanta has what they call Express Lanes, which are open during busy parts of the day. Some of them are only open one way depending on the time of day. They charge different amounts on different sections of the road. If you aren't in a hurry and Atlanta traffic doesn't bother you, they aren't necessary. Hubby has an express pass on his car which also works on the Florida Toll roads but he only has it because he goes into Atlanta a lot and gets stuck there during rush hour.

That is why we bought the sun pass. To use those roads cause when they are open it means you need them and when you need them you need them badly

I think hubby uses them just every once in awhile. Never when I'm with him because the only reason I'm going through Atlanta is we are pulling the RV and you can't use them with RVs. I live "just up the rode" in Athens and avoid Atlanta if I can. I'd rather take the mountain roads but hubby doesn't like all the stops and turns when pulling the RV. Most of the time if he's in Atlanta working, he just uses 75/85 or 285 unless he hits it right at rush hour.

Atlanta to Naples on I-75: no tolls
Naples to Orlando using I-75 and I-4: no tolls
Orlando to Atlanta - the most direct route from Disney to I-75 would entail 429 and the turnpike, both of which require tolls. From Universal to I-75 the most direct route would be the turnpike. It is possible to avoid tolls by taking I-4 back to I-75, but that is a longer route.

Purchasing a Sun Pass transponder ahead of time might be your best bet, particularly if you think you might return to Disney. However, it is possible to avoid the tolls if you don't mind driving more.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the advice and help! :flower1:
