Paying OP question on DP

There will be four of us on the free standard dining plan. My daughter is a very light and picky eater and is usually happy with just an appetizer, so we are planning on paying OP for her table meals. We can then use the unused tickets for a signature restaurant.

My question is, do we need worry about who orders what, or will they automatically deduct the 3 highest priced entrees? Should I be ordering the dessert even if she will be choosing/eating it. Or, again, will they just deduct 3 desserts?

Thanks.

You need to make sure your server knows exactly which meal you want to pay cash for.

I don't understand the question about the desserts. You should tell your server that the three persons other than your daughter will be paying with DDP and your daughter's meal will be paid for with cash. She can then order a dessert if she wants one and you will pay for it. You can't use just the dessert from her dining credit - you'd lose the whole credit.

You'll get a separate check with your daughter's meal on it.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. The dessert question is, if we are only getting 3 desserts (and using 3 ts tickets), do we have to play the game where I would order it (as I am using a ticket) even though my daughter will be choosing/eating it?

Similar question for the drink. I tend to get a glass of wine (which is not included), but my daughter will get my included beverage. Do I need to order the included beverage?

In general, it sounds like you are saying we will have to play along and then swap when it is served? They will not just deduct 3 entrees, 3 desserts and 3 beverages?

Aren't you only ordering three entree to start with in this scenario?

If you're using three entitlements, you can order up to three deserts. You can share those desserts four ways if you like (since your daughter is on the plan, even if she isn't using a credit at the meal), or you can order a fourth dessert OOP -- just have your daughter order the least expensive, and swap if necessary.

They do not deduct the different parts of the meal separately. A meal credit is a meal credit regardless whether you order dessert.

If 3 adults are using the DP at a meal they deduct 3 adult meals from your total.

If your daughter is not considered and adult you cannot use her meal credits for yourself.

Typically, we will be ordering only 3 entrees, but if she wants an entree she can get one. We will still pay OP for 1 meal (so that we have the right number of credits for the signature restaurant).

She is 11, thus on the adult meal plan.

Then you may absolutely use them any way you wish.

You can have her order the cheapest entree of the 4 and switch after if you want to ensure you pay OOP for the cheapest

Yes to the above post but they will not automatically charge you for the cheapest meal. You must tell your server which meal you want to pay for.

Then just order three DDP meals, choose the dessert and drink your daughter wants for yours, and then when the meals arrive, give her your dessert and your drink. The wine you order and your daughter's meal will be paid for separately.

You may not want to do this at buffets or family style as your daughter will be charged the adult price for those no matter what she eats - you may prefer to use her dining credits if you have any of those booked.

Thanks all, for your responses. Guess we will have to pay attention to who orders what. Not an issue, just good to know up front.
