Paying OP for kids meal while on the DDP

We are planning on using DDP on our next trip. My son will be 10, but he eats like a bird, and I know will prefer kids meals over adult meals.
My question is, can we use our TS dining credits for 3 members of the family, and pay out of pocket if he eats off the kids menu (provided of course if the restaurant allows it)?
I'm just thinking we may be able to splurge on a 2 credit restaurant one night if we have the extra TS credits that we didn't use for him.

Yes, you can do that!

I was just debating the same thing. Our son will just barely be 11 when we travel and doesn't eat much at all. He never finished the kids size meals at Disney the last time we went (he was 9 but his appetite is the same now). I was going to do some tweaking to our TS meal plans and see which way benefits us most.

We did this a few times the year DD turned 10 (while at WDW). Didn't want to waste an adult credit on a kid's meal. They'll just give you a separate check for the OOP meal. Then we found out at 50's PTC that she could order a larger version of a kid's meal (called a junior meal and not on the menu) using an adult credit. We did this again at Kona's. Kid's meal was about 4 raviolis. Jr. meal was about 12. Plus she got to choose from the adult desserts as well.:goodvibes

My DM and I have also shared a few TS meals as well. That also allowed us to splurge on a few signature meals over the years. :wizard:

Yes. We have done this in one restaurant where there was just nothing for my 10 yo son to enjoy, even though he is pretty adventurous and has a big appetite. We didn't want to spend an adult TS credit on a $6 kids meal, though the CM did offer. SO he CM herself suggested we just pay OOP. Twice we paid OOP at CS and then bought the big adult breakfast at the resort food court in the morning. Two of those fed my family of 5 very nicely.
