We go to Disney yearly. We always go to Ohana's, and usually love it. We always have free dining but this trip we are going to be paying OOP for our meals since we are staying at a deluxe with a great discounted rate. I am really on the fence if we should keep our Ohana adr. It will cost us over $200 for dinner. My 2-13 year olds, aren't even really crazy about it, but my husband and I really like it. I am so on the fence, I really never have a problem making a decision. Shall I keep it or skip a year?

Nobody really knows but you.

Will that $200 make a difference in your budget? Some people that will be their entire souvenir budget other people it's nothing. What is it to you?

If you don't go will you regret it as soon as you return?

If you are questioning it why not try a new restaurant? I like my old standby choices, but I think that this may be a good time to try a place you have never been. You may save money or you may not, but this could be fun!

Ohana is always a must do on our trip...but we always do breakfast, which in my mind is way cheaper than dinner lol...we paid OOP for it last year Bc like I said it's a must do and we didn't have enough credits for it from our dining plan to do it so we just paid OOP. We love the breakfast there, maybe consider doing breakfast instead of dinner? It is a lot cheaper and then u will still get to eat there

We're in the same boat. Was easy to make that ADR when we had FD, now not so much! Ha. Plus one of our disney "adults" is a now a vegetarian and the other is going through a picky stage. Also, being from Canada once I factor in exchange it's hard to justify it. We may just hit up the Tambu lounge so I can get my bread pudding fix!

We never pay for the dining plan, we had it once when it was free years back and this is how we found Ohana..Now its the one meal we splurge on and pay the high prices..It usually cost us around 300 with tax and tip, I cringe when paying that for food but my whole family loves it and we look forward to it..So I say yes...

'Ohana is a must do for us, whether on the dining plan or OOP. It's our favorite restaurant in WDW.

So happy to hear the good reviews about Ohana! We will be doing dinner there for the first time this trip and paying OOP as our last night fun meal :)

Would you be comfortable with or would your kids want to hand out in the room and do a pizza and movie night while just the adults do Ohana? Would cut the bill in 1/2 if they really don't want to go anyway. You might be comfortable with them doing other things outside the room, but I would not be so just mentioned the room. Maybe let them hang out at the Polly and do the arcade and explore the resort with the rule that could not leave the resort? They could grab dinner at the food court? Just thinking outside the box.

This is great advice, especially since all three of them really don't like Ohana's and spending $125 extra for them when they don't enjoy it, would be foolish. Thanks for the great idea. We are staying 10 nights and will be eating every other night together. My children will be happy to stay in the hotel room with their I-pads for a few hours and pizza delivery (I will get before we leave) sounds like a great idea also.

All three of them? You said you have two 13 year olds, and that yourself/your hubby like Ohana. Who's the third? Dont mind me, just wanted to get a complete picture before weighing in. :)

Anywho, I also think letting the kids hang out in the room while you/hubby eat at ohana is a great idea. You'll save a ton of cash. Me personally, i've been to ohana once and wasnt impressed with the food at all. Wings were slimy, pot stickers dry, noodles dry. Meat was dry. And our ADR was at 520pm! Go figure. Had we paid cash for it, i'd be really annoyed. But i didnt mind too much since we were on the (free) Dining Plan. I doubt i'll be going back to be honest. Since your paying OOP, I think it would be fun for all of you to try something new. But of course its entirely up to you. Good luck!

That is a lot of money on one meal. I like the idea too of the kids getting pizza and the adults enjoying adult time

Have a great time!

I don't get the difference between using the DDP or paying cash at the time. you're still paying for it one way or the other! of course using the DDP is less transparent but even if you get "free dining" it is not really free - you are paying for it in lieu of a room discount. Now wanting to waste all that money on kids who don't want to be there in the first place is another issue entirely and I love the pizza and movie night in the room idea :) with cell phones they can get you in an instant!

Sorry, maybe I didn't clarify, my 2-13 year olds arent' crazy about it. I also have a 7 year old son who could take it or leave it. I will have them stay in the hotel room while we are gone. I wouldn't feel comfortable with them walking around alone. We will only be gone a few hours and they are all 3 very responsible children. Glad I posted or I would have never thought of this.

Not sure if you are already aware but you can get a large pizza, 2 desserts and 2 drinks at the food court as a carryout where you order it in person and take it to your own hotel room or table and it is only two counter service meals. It's a great deal!
At least this was the case the last time we were there in 2014.

Wow, I wasn't aware of this. They are not really picky when it comes to pizza either. We are staying at the BC, wonder if they have this there?

No deals like that for deluxe resorts. Only pizza at BC Marketplace is the kids meal ones. A "traditional " cheese pizza from room service will run you $!9 with extra topping s $2 each plus 18% surcharge. You can always have pizza delivered to the lobby and be there to meet them.

ETA if you're up for a walk a whole pepperoni pizza from the Boardwalk pizza window is like $22.

Im with you on this. I'd also be more comfortable leaving them in the room rather than allowing them to wander the resort alone. Whatever you decide, good luck! :)
