Paying for the trip with Disney Gift Cards

I have started to pay my trip in October off in increments based on budget, etc, and I was wondering. Giant Eagle has Disney Gift Cards for sale, which I believe can be used in park, to purchase trips, etc. By buying the $50 card, I get $.20 off a gallon of gas (up to 30 gallons) and for a trip such as this, I could save over $7 in gas, which is like 3 full tanks free

My question is, if for some reason the trip had to be canceled (words no DISer wants to hear), how would Disney refund it? Back to a gift card, a check, etc?

Thanks
Bill

I've heard it goes back on the original gift card. So, I would suggest hanging on to those gift cards.

Yes ~ make sure to save your gift cards and if you need to cancel they'll go back on them.

Keep the gift cards but the disney distanation people told me goes in a check or credit card of choice, make sure if you are getting them from giant eagle that you use all your gas credit every time because they expire... im getting over 7 free tanks of gas this year for our trip woo hoo....

im not not going to disney come hello or high water, except death in the family. keep the receipts for the gift cards too. Ask the store what the return policy is too...

Well if you do cancel your trip guess what everyone is getting for xmas :lmao:

It math wise a better reward, because im getting 322.00 off in gas for a 4k trip which is better then most cc reward programs...

Does anybody know of any other Disney gift card promotions?

We don't have Giant around here.

Kroger has Disney gift cards and also has a fuel reward program. Do you have any Kroger stores in your area? It would work in the same sort of way.

Also, if you purchase the Disney Gift cards with your Disney Visa using your Kroger Card you will earn Fuel Rewards with Kroger and Disney points on your charge card all at the same time!!

Here is how we are paying for our trip this year: I use coupons and get the sale prices from using my Kroger card. In turn whatever money I save I use to buy my Disney Gift Cards and Southwest Gift Cards (Kroger sells these as well). I then use the gift cards to pay for our flight and vacation. I'm also reducing the cost of our gas through the fuel rewards program and earning Disney Points on our visa!

Since I have not regularly used coupons in the past this years vacation is not really an added line item to our total expenses ~ because the money I am saving using coupons (Kroger, fast food, sit down dining, any coupon or discount I can get my hands on) is paying for our vacation!!

I'm not understanding this - sorry to be slow!

If I buy a $50 Disney gift card at my nearby Kroger, I will save 10c off each gallon of gas at my next fillup within the next month.

But are you saying I could somehow apply this to my driving to Orlando?

Please explain. I'd love to save any way I can!

Not sure what you don't understand. You have it all in your post. You'd save 10 cents per gallon on that $50. Buy $200 and save 40 cents per gallon. That is money saved right there that you can stash away for any upcoming trip. Use a rewards credit card to buy that Diz Card and get 1-5% more back, based on your reward level. If you do these small percentage perks for $2000-$4000 for a given trip, adds up fast.

I am not sure if this will work. But I bought $200 gift card from Disney shopping. I did not pay shipping. I am hoping to get a rebate thru e b a t e s. right now the discount is 5%. I read the exclusions. Technically the only exclusions are park tickets.

I have a Kroger but no gas station. So I could not go that route. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I had no luck with ebates with my $200 one. Smme people did if they were $50 or less.

Our Krogers doesn't go past 10 cents per gallon saved unless you are using the Kroger Mastercard. I think the fuel rewards vary by division.

Hmm. Oh, well. I figured it was probably to good to be true. Maybe when my next payment is due, I will try some fifty dollar ones. I just wonder why the small amounts would and not the big amounts. :confused3

I purchased gift cards to pay for my August Trip from Giant Eagle during the .20 fuel perks promo. I calculated that I save about 300.00 in gas. I have not paid for a tank of gas since November. Nothing was wasted and I used my Chase Disney Visa during a 5X rewards and got the full reward for that as well. All told I saved about 400.00 off my 2,700.00 2 week trip that already includes free dining. How cool is that? And yes I will admit that I am an accountant.

Is Giant Eagle the same as the Giant/Martins Food stores? Where else besides Kroger can I purchase Disney gift cards (other than online).

We were going to do this. I bought $50 worth around Christmas. Its a great savings. I just don't want to deal with the 358340958 gift cards if we did have to cancel for some reason.

We just put in on our Disney visa and we at least got the points for that. With our $50 I bought at Christmas and the $400 Disney visa rewards dollars, we aren't going to have to pay for anything this trip.

Last Christmas, Kroger and Dominick's (Safeway) around here did a promotion where if you bought $100 of gift cards, you got $10 off. If you could stack that with the free gas and put it on a rewards credit card.....no I just have to wait until Christmas.:woohoo:
