Can anyone tell me if Disney will accept a credit card for a small add-on? We are looking at purchasing 25-30 additional points.

We did it a couple of times. You can do it buying directly from Disney, but not a resale.

What about a 50-70 point contract? Why are you not allowed to put the resale purchase on credit card?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure Disney will take a credit card for as many points as you want as long as you have enough balance remaining on the card. (Not positive, though.)

As far as I know, you usually can't use credit cards for real estate. I was just told by one reseller that they would be able to accept the checks that credit card companies tie to the card, but not just the card itself. For my credit card company there is a significant cost associated with the checks, so we're just going to use a regular old check. Bummer - no FF miles for us!

I don't know if resellers are allowed or not allowed to accept payments by credit card, but I can see why they wouldn't want to do so. When you purchase from a reseller, most of the money you pay goes to the seller. Let's say the resale broker gets a 10% commission on the sale. If they give up 2% of the selling price to the credit card company, that costs them 20% of their income. When you purchase directly from Disney, all of the money goes to Disney so if they lose 2% to the credit card company, that's noise level and probably built into their pricing anyway.

Did it this week. Deposit then and the remainder on 100 pt purchase will be done in a couple of weeks. Most resale agents don't allow it simply due to the extra costs involved.

Dean -- Was this through a reseller, or direct from Disney?

Also, does anyone know if Disney will allow you to split your purchase up and make payments over a short period (like once a month for 90 days...that kind of thing)?

This was direct. My understanding is that full payment is due in approximately 2 weeks after you sign up. Apparently FL changed it's occupancy laws making it easier to close much earlier.

You could finance through Disney for their shortest time and then expedite your payments.

That is correct. We put our AKV addon (150pts) on a credit card so we could get the airline miles.

That could still work for me if I timed it *just* right.

I have the cash available but I'm being very strict with our finances for the next couple of months until we find out how much we owe Uncle Sam. :scared1:

I just read on a site that does DVC resales, although they won't take payment by credit card, they will take credit card checks. Hope that helps.
