Paying for Room Charges with DVA

I have one question about using the Disney Vacation Savings Account.

If room charges can be paid using a Disney GC, can the DVA be used to pay them periodically at the front desk of my resort since this payment type is entered as a gift card?

Does anyone have any experience or first had knowledge about this? I wanted to maximize my rewards with the account so I am trying to figure out if I need to deposit more than just the amount of my vacation package. Also don't want to tote around GCs if I don't need to!

No, you cannot use the DVA for room charges. Even if the front desk enters the account number like a gift card, it will fail. You can, however, request a $500 gift card from your DVA that can be used for room charges.

That's what I thought from reading the FAQ, but since my account is less than 120 days and my trip is in 3 weeks, it doesn't even look like I can request a gift card, so I will probably just ask for a refund.
