Paying for prebooked seats with Virgin

I Agree, this is the dilemma that I'm in at the moment

I'll also be booking for the way home in the next couple of days too so that's £100 down the drain. Could be worse though I guess

Just wish I'd known about this before booking with virgin as when I checked before I booked, you got it included

When did you book your flights? If you booked before the charge was introduced in November then you can book your seats for free 60 days before you fly. I just booked seats for our outbound flight last week and over half the seats on the plane were still available.

Unfortunately, we booked it a couple of days after the new rule had been brought in but thank you anyway :)

I booked my package in October but my TA told me because flights hadn't officially come out at that time, the free prebooked seats would not be included and instead, chargeable.
I'll be paying because it's just me and my bf so don't really fancy spending 9 hours alone on a plane! I wouldn't mind if it was just 2-3 hours.

Although I've never paid to choose seats with VA, I've done it a few times with BA and every time I/we have been moved when online check in opened. Each time a full refund was processed, but it's worth bearing in mind that there is never a guarantee, even if you pay to select your seats in advance.
