One of our rewards programs offers Disney Gift Cards. Can these be used to pay the 200 deposit for a package and the balance or a least a portion of it also?

You sure can. I've done it myself.

YOu can also use them as a deposit to enable room charging, instead of a credit card. If you do it this way, any unspend remainder will be refunded to you at check out in cash.

Thanks everybody. My points are burning a hole in my pocket:rolleyes:

Do the gift cards have an expiration date or can I accumulate them over the next couple of months?

Regular Disney Gift Cards, such as those purchased at the Disney Store or online at DisneyGiftCard.com or at WDW, have no expiration date and no fees of any kind. As long as the gift cards you get for your points are the same cards, they will not have any expiration date, either.

A word of caution if you use gift cards to pay for your package: DO NOT THROW THOSE GIFT CARDS AWAY UNTIL YOUR TRIP IS OVER!

If you need to cancel your trip for any reason and want a refund, it will be returned to the original form of payment. That means that it will be returned to the gift card(s). If you've throw away the card(s), you have no access to those returned funds!

Put them away in a drawer and toss them when you get home.

That is excellent advice! I always hang on to them, just in case.

So, can you enter the gift card on-line? Do you just enter it as a credit card? Thanks.

Would you happen to know how long it takes to refund a gift card? I have a room only ressie, and was wondering just in case some great package deal comes out. I have them all in my folder still.

It can vary from a week to 6 weeks. At least that's what happened when I had to cancel and rebook a trip. The funds kind of trickled back to the GCs one at a time and took 6 weeks for the final card to get its funds back.

Yes, you can. I purchase the gift cards through our kids school (a fundraiser) each week $100 and then go on the website and pay on our trip each week. On the invoice page, it gives you the option to pay with gift card then disney will send you an email with a day or 2 acknowledging the payment. It does not show up instantly, just a warning. I called Disney after the first time I paid with gift cards to be sure it worked.

Thanks a bunch guys. I just redeemed enough points for cards for the deposit. Thanks for the tip to keep them. Although you would have to ask my family about my trip folders. I still have folders with all my paperwork from trips we took five years ago.

Disney December 2010 here we come :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Thank you!

During our last trip I paid for our dining plan with gift cards/rewards cards. I checked into SSR and came armed with a truckload of gift cards.;) It took a little longer to check in, but it was so nice not to pay a penny!

What kind of discount can you get for Disney cards through the frundraiser?

So, what happens if you pay for your trip using gift cards and you must cancel the trip? How do you get that money back, especially, if you can no longer go? I wouldn't want it to go back on gift cards.

I paid for my trip with gift cards from giant eagle.. if anyone is from OH this is a great deal you get $.20 off of gas at Get go for every $50.00 spent.. its a double win :) ... keep the cards because if you cancel ur trip the amount goes back to each card...

Are yours .20 cents right now? Here in PA (I'm near Pittsburgh) we are not doubled right now, only doing .10 cents.
