Paying for kids meals OOP on the dining plan

We purchased the DDP for our trip in March of 2016. I don't think it was the best deal for us, but my husband likes it because it's paid for before we go and he doesn't feel as if he has to watch what he is spending. It's myself, my DH, my DD 10, and my DD 7. Since my DD is 10 she is considered an adult on the plan. Unfortunately her tastes still run towards the selections on the kids menu most of the time. We would use the adult TS credits for any character meals/buffets for her. But, if we are dining at a TS restaurant and she prefers one of the kids meal choices, could we just pay for the kids meal for her out of pocket and then save that Adult TS credit for another meal for DH or myself? Has anyone done this before? Has anyone had an experience at a restaurant that wouldn't allow this? Thanks so much for any help!

Yes, that is what we did for DD at that age. She liked the adult choices most places, but once or twice she wanted a kid's meal. We normally have one or two meals we are planning to pay for out of pocket anyway, so we saved her credits for those meals.

Thanks! How did you handle that with your server so they didn't use the TS credit?

We are planning doing exactly that in December. My 11 year old daughter might experiment but she will not eat enough to justify the use of her adult credit. There are 4 other adults (two real adults and a 16 and 17 year old) so we are planning on using her credits where we have to (buffets and AYCTE/pay one price places) and either she will share our food (we are also on the deluxe dining plan so we get appetizers, entrees, and desserts at all meals) or we will pay for her to get a kids meal if she is too hungry or does not want what we are having. We will be there 15 days and have 42 meals planned and the way we are using credits has made that possible.

This is a GREAT question! We are planning on going to Narcoosee's and would have to use 2 TS credits for a $13 kids meal (there's no way he would eat one of the adult entrees). Since we will have the deluxe plan we could save his credits for adults meals later.

Thanks!

I didn't even think of this. Awesome idea. Daughter is 10 and will likely want to eat off the kid's menu. Disregarding buffets, this would give us an enough credits for an extra meal during that week.

My DGD would opt for the kids meal periodically so we just informed our server that we were paying for her meal OOP. No need for a separate check.
