Paying for DVC

So we secured a loan from our bank for DVC payment and the money is in our checking account. We're ready to buy in when we arrive in WDW on September 21st!!:cool1:
My question is: We want to put $2500 on Disney Visa for the 6mo no interest financing and then pay the remainder w/ personal check. Does anyone know if there is any problem with our plans? It seems like it's an OK plan but I guess it just freaks me out writing a check for such a large amount- we don't tend to write large checks like that! I'm assuming they'll take the money any way we want to give it to them but wanted to make sure they'll take a personal check.

If I were you I would put the $2500 on your Visa and then pay Visa. If you continue that cycle and keep charging it and then paying Visa you will be able to get your disney reward points on all of it. Chase will let you pay the bill once the charge posts before your statement is complete. Make 7 $2500 payments to DVC and then simultaneously pay the card and voila lots of reward certificates.

I am trying to do extra same thing but i running into a problem. My Credit limit is only $5000. Can pay Chase $16000 upfront and then have DVD charge $16000? or it has to be $5000 every transaction and pay chase $5000, wait for a few days for the payment to be posted and call DVD to have them charge another $5000, pay chase another $5000, wait for few days.... till all is paid?

Yes typically that is what you would need to do. Multiple charges. Very few credit card companies will allow you to pay in advance. Only my American Express will do that. Either way you could always call and see if you can work something out in advance.

TLPL:

What I would do is pay $5,000 down when you call Disney (or do it in person if you are there). Then send a check to visa for 5k. Once the check gets there you can at least pay another 5K on the visa when you close. Since it takes about 30 days to close you might actually be able to work 3- 5K payments in by doingthe same thing. We actually put the whole amount on our visa then just turned around and paid it off. Essentiall you are doing the same thing but just in 3 payments.

To clarify, my understanding is that the 6 mo no interest from Disney Visa is only good for a charge up to $2500. What we want to do is charge just this minimum b/c then we'd have no interest for some of the cost and then just pay for the remainder of DVC outright with a personal check.

My real question is will DVC take a personal check for the payment?

I got the Disney Visa because what I read on this board. DH is American has a SSN and work for an American company. When we call that phone number they keep reminding us this credit card is available in US only (We called from home in Canada, they must got our phone number on caller ID or routed us to Chase Canada or something). After reluctantly took down our info.. They said they don’t accept the code that supposingly get us the free Disney Gift Card. Then they give us the low $5000 credit limit...... All the troubles for that 1% rebate.

Sorry Budahman for taking over your thread.

We wrote a personal check...they will gladly accept it:)
Congrats on your purchase!!

We just purchased during our trip:)

I would put the entire purchase on my Disney Visa ($16,000.00?), earn $160 in Disney reward dollars, and pay off the entire bill when it comes next month since you already have the money to pay it off. Two things of note here:
1. If this is a new account, you may not have the credit limit to do this.
2. If this is a new account, I believe you get 6 mos. no interest on any purchases above and beyond Disney vacations. Always check with Disney Visa to make sure.
