Paying dues in advance?

Anywhere I can!

Our chase card had a 10% back at Stop and Shop, so we bought a $75 gift card there.

My Wells Fargo card had 10% cash back at CVS, so we grabbed a $40 gift card there.

Right now on my chase debit card there’s a 20% at Walgreens, Bed Bath Beyond, and 10% at CVS. That’s going to be another $150 of gift cards for me!

I used to do the bulk BJs thing but I only averaged about 9% on average. Being opportunistic about it this year and I’m averaging about 13%.
That is % off on gift cards? If that is the case are there limits? I have Chase Sapphire card and I can get 10% off on Disney gift cards at Stop and Shop?

The poster is talking about targeted Chase offers. To check if you have any, you need to sign into your chase account and see what offers your card got. Not everyone gets the same offers. Once you sign into your Chase account, scroll down a little and there is a section called "Chase Offers".

It’s not the % off on the gift cards. It’s cash back on spending at those stores, but those stores sell Disney gift cards. The targeted offers have limits, and they vary store to store.

For example the stop and shop was 10% cash back up to $75. Walgreen was 20% back up on up to $40. Bed Bath was up to $70.

So we go and buy those values at the stores using the targeted offers as they show up.

Thanks for explanation.

Just to add, slightly off topic, but be prepared for a larger increase in terms of amount due because of the credit we received from 2020.

I had around a $400 credit already applied so I made sure during the year I put that aside so my increase due is the normal one.

I am just hoping the price per point doesn't increase too much. I believe they are done with the increases associated with all employees being bumped to $15/hr.

Me too. The actual taxes for most resorts is lower than estimated…except RIV because it’s not yet all declared…which will help to offset any increases a little bit!!

BJs will be doing 6% off Disney gift cards 11/16-11/29. Normally the most you can get off is 3-4%.

It seems I can only add them by "contract" and not "balance". If I estimate the dues per contract wrong will they redistribute the funds accordingly?

I don't think so as it's by contract so it would stay with that contract. I deliberately paid less than I was expecting to pay with the forecasted rate so that I wouldn't have this issue. I was also waiting to find out what credit we would get with the shutdown

I've been paying by contract for several months after paying our entire 2021 balance, and the credit balance is shown afterwards as a total amount, not split per contract, even though I pay to one contract sometimes and to the other contract other times. I can't remember exactly what they did at the start of 2021, whether they reduced the amount owed on each contract by 1/2 of the credit balance (we have 2 contracts) or reduced the balance owed on each contract by a different amount based on what I did each time I made a payment. If I can find that information, I'll come back and update, but in the meantime, I'd assume they'll distribute what you say. FYI, you can put whatever amount you want for each contract and then at the bottom enter the rewards card number just once, and it will distribute it that way. Edited to add - IOW, you don't have to apply the entire rewards card balance to one contract, you can split it up among all your contracts.

I don't think so. Once you pay per contract it stays there. edit: okay after reading @CarolynFH 's response, not certain. I was going by where 'I' placed the funds.

If you are unsure of how much to pay per month per contract, the actual amount due should be up by maybe the middle of this month.

For myself, I found the new (estimated?) dues amount per resort posted somewhere here on Disboards and multiplied that by the number of points at that resort and divided by 12 months to get an idea of what each contract costs per month. Then I paid each contract with gift cards for the next 4 months. If I'm a bit off, it won't really matter because I'll be paying them ahead anyway until paid off.

Plus, what you owe for the month not yet paid will show with a due date.

The dues statements are supposed to be posted to the member website on Dec. 17, so you'll know the actual amount then for each contract.
Good to know, thank you! I have predominately VGC points so it'll be interesting to see if there is any sort of credit again for the resort being closed until May. Hence some of my confusion paying by contract :)

Im in credit by quite a lot. Next years dues are already paid in effect and the 2023 dues I am about 50% of the way there.

I wonder if they will give me interest for being 1.5 years ahead?!

Yes.

Im sure they hate us because of it. But you’ll see adjustments on the contract to get it right.

I do my best to get each contract right and pay all my dues ahead with discounted gift cards but there always ends up being distribution between my 3 contracts

Here’s an example of what it looks like.

You can see in this case my balance was less than my dues for the year but they pulled it from my other contract to zero it out.
