Paying Dues Early(ish)?

I have two questions:
1) What is the earliest we can typically pay 2025 dues?
2) Can I use an AmEx card if I pay them all up front?

I recognize this is an unusual request to pay as early as possible, but going to be close to a mileage multiplier on my Delta Amex if I can make payment before 12/31.

You can pay as early as you like… just select make a payment and it will show as a credit balance on your account until the dues statements are sent.

I have the bulk of mine paid already as I convert ££ to $$ when the rates are good.

And yes, you can do this with a credit card (assume Amex acceptable).

I think about this every year when it comes to my Delta AmEx. Instead of actually paying early, I start using it to buy discounted Disney gift cards for my dues and for my trips next year. If you have a BJ's membership, they are currently having a small sale on $500 cards.

Yep, I’ve been buying GCs and making payments as a credit to 2025 dues for months. I’ve estimated I’ve paid a bit more than half. You could buy roughly what you think you’ll need in GC or just make a healthy payment with your CC out right. And I also use my Delta Amex for dues!

Can’t speak to cruise line but the GCs themselves are pretty easy to load. You pick a contract to add it to, go to a new card and follow the rest of the prompts for a Disney gift card. If there’s any deals on GCs or if you can stack in other ways it’s always better. The only annoying thing is that you can only add the cards individually so it can be a bit tedious but really not a big deal at all.

Unfortunately I think we will still have some thinking about them to do when the dues increases come through… hopefully less than 5% thinking..: although I’m not optimistic with the property tax increases!

I paid mine early bc i don't want anything happening to my gift cards. lol I guess i could have had that cash sitting in the bank longer earning interest...or invested...oh well. Gotta grab those discounts tho!

If you go to the Disney Gift Card site, you can add your cards there, and transfer the separate card amounts onto one card. That makes it easier to use the Disney Gift Card on the DVC dues payment.

I'll typically get the Disney eGift cards (at SamsClub in my case for their discount). I'll then add them into the disney gift card site, and then transfer to a single card (I use one I have physically). You can add both physical and/or 'e' gift cards into the site. When I do the transfer, I'll use the option to 'transfer and delete' the card because they only allow a certain number of cards at one time on that page.

Also, yes the GCs can be used on the cruise line.!!

I do the same thing you do - buy discounted DGCs and transfer the balances to one physical card. I use the option to "transfer and delete," and I also delete the physical card when I'm finished, because there have been cases when bad actors hacked into people's Disney Gift Card account and emptied all the cards stored there, and Disney can't do anything to restore the funds. So I never leave a card in that account - I'd rather enter all the numbers every time I have new DGCs than lose our money.

Yes, absolutely, I am another person here who does that. I buy the DGC when there are sale and load them on as payments towards my DVC dues through out the year. I have also just paid with CC on the site when I had certain spending promotions with different CC as well.

Glad to see this thread. I was just wondering the same thing. Just bought several gift cards, and hoping to start applying them asap, instead of waiting until Dec. Wasn't sure if that could be done.

Agreed. Good to buy discounted GC's when on sale and just go ahead and put toward maint fees unless you have another specific use coming up (parks, cruise, etc)
