We're paying our contract off in full but having a nightmare with the payments. We have the funds but our bank (Barclays) is being stubborn in allowing the transactions for the contract. It's $39,000. We've had to split it into smaller chunks and do it from a Chase UK card, but that is also screaming fraud at us now.

What other options do we have without a ridiculous transaction / currency fee, from the UK?

Are you trying to send closing funds to a title company?

The way I pay for contracts is by setting up a U.S. bank account with Wise. You can transfer money to your Wise account with a bank transfer, and then convert to $$ at the market exchange rates. I then just set up a wire transfer to whoever it is going to. No exchange rate fees.

ETA just seen it’s a direct contract, in which case just get a Curve card and link a points earning credit card to that. You get 1% cash back in foreign spend plus whatever incentives your credit card gives. You will still have to pay in smaller chunks unless your credit limit allows £30k in one go!

What do you quantify as “ridiculous”?

Thanks all for the replies, and apologies for my slow reply.

We paid in full via my UK Chase card in the end, in four different individual transactions. Now we're officially closed and completed! Huzzah!
