Paying cash?

Has anyone ever stayed durring the week on points and then paid cash for friday and sat. but then back to points for sunday? I would rather do this but I am not sure if it is possible to keep the same room and is it difficult to do. Would I call MS? Any help would be appreciated.

I have not had problems with this. Kept same room. Didn't have to change keys at all.

Make all reservations with MS and have them linked.

Others have reported some glitches.

If you book all through member services you shouldn't have a problem. There are a couple of exceptions - no cash nights for BWV boardwalk view or BCV dedicated 2 bedroom w/2 queens.

One more thing. DVC provides discount cash prices (usually available -- not guaranteed) but the discounts don't become available until a few mos before the stay. So book at rack rate and then check back later. They can change the rate without changing the reservation.

Are the rack rates thru MS the same as thru CRO?

Is there a list of the MS rates?

Just did exactly this last week during our VB stay Here's how our reservation went:

Sat. night - paid cash w/member discount
Sun.-Thurs. night - points
Fri. night - paid cash again w/member discount

MS linked all of our ressies, we did not have to check out and back in again, move OR get new keys. It was completely treated as though we had one long ressie

Now, that said...this was all booked via MS through DVC. If you book your weekends with cash via CRO, even if you book the same resort and same room size/catagory, CRO will not guarantee that you will not have to move,check out and back in again if they do not have to move you (which they very well might have to and then you may be without a room for a portion of the day until the next one is again clean and ready) and or get new room keys. So be aware that CRO may have the same room on the weekends for less $$ but these are some of the drawbacks that could happen booking the 2 different systems. Of course if CRO has the room for significantly less it could be worth the hassle and they will make notes on both ressies with DVC and CRO if you choose to book with both and they will TRY to keep you from having to move...they just won't guarantee it. Booking with the 2 different systems even if you don't end up having to move, you will definetly still have to check out and then back in and get new keys though...just all things to be aware of.

If you can book the cash nights via MS through DVC and have all the ressies linked it will be smoothe sailing though! Done it a few times now and have yet to have a problem.
