We are DVC members, considering paying for our room with cash next year. If we go this route, should we still call Member Services? Or do we need to go through CRO? Since we are members, will our KTTK still state that we are DVC Members? Will we still get free internet? Just wondering how this works.

If you go through member services then you will have DVC on your card- if you are staying at BLT you would be able to go to TOTWL if you go through CRO you would need your DVC member card for discounts but would not be allowed to pool hop or such. You would still be eligable for the DVC dining discounts and such. The CRO rooms may be less expensive if they have discounts.

I'm sure someone else will clarify this, but don't we have to go through member services to get the DVC cash discount for rooms? If so, then booking with them would be beneficial.

It depends. If you're booking a DVC villa and you go through MS hoping for the 25% discount, it would be treated just like you were staying on points. If it's not a DVC villa or you go through CRO, you would not get the stay specific benefits like free internet. You would still get the dining and pass type discounts. You'd also get daily maid service through CRO and potential access to other benefits like free DDP if applicable.

Hmmmm. Tricky. So if we went through MS we could get 25% off the villa? But if we go through CRO we could get Free Dining (if offered) or other potential pin codes? Choices, choices. We are not always offered the 25% cash discount, though, correct? We'd be looking at a Grand Villa . . .

I doubt you'll get any discount on a GV either way and I doubt the 3 BR are given to CRO very often but you never know. That's quite a chunk of change on cash regardless. You'd come out cheaper getting a 2 BR plus studio or similar. You may want to consider getting points from another member or renting a reservation from another member.

I'm confused :confused3... In February we stayed at SSR for 10 nights, the first two nights we paid cash and we did book the cash nights via DVC and we did get the member discount. However at check in we were told because we weren't "staying on points" the first two nights we would be charged for the internet those two days.... I didn't question it but now I'm thinking we shouldn't have had to pay??? Does anyone know??

If you booked the cash nights through MS, you should not have had to pay for the internet. The front desk was wrong.

MS cash rooms are technically points reservations and you should not have been charged.

Thank you for the information... I will definately be prepared for our Nov trip, because our first 3 nights are cash thru DVC as well....

Be sure MS has the cash portion linked to the points version. That could have contributed to the CM's mistake last time.

I would look at both options. CRO is currently offering 40%-45% off on DVC resorts. The price difference from 25% would be more than enough to pay for internet.

Ok, - I've been an owner for quite a while, but new to some of these acronims. I feel a little silly and it's probably obvious, but my mind is not working right now. What does KTTK and CRO stand for?

KTTK (should be KTTW) - Key to the World. Your room key.
CRO - Central Reservations Office. Where non-members make reservations for WDW resorts.
