Good question. There has been in the past - I think it was around a 25% discount for DVC members for a DVC room. Also, keep in mind that if you are DVC and need some 'extra' points to complete a ressie, I think you can do a one-time purchase of up to 24 points (I think it's 24) for a fixed fee (I want to say $15 per point). Not sure if any of that changed since Covid, but might be worth looking at, if that number of points might help. But we have already paid cash with the discount in the past. Sorry - I know that's a lot of "I think so" and "might bes"!

We’ve only done it once - several years ago on a somewhat last minute trip where we stayed at SSR and we wanted to conserve points. It worked really well.
Thanks for your help only need one night to complete a reservation and if my waitlist doesn't come through I was wanting a backup plan before even cash reservations were gone . I wasn't sure if you could get some form of a discount with our DVC . I assume you would have to inquire with member services
In the past, people have discussed whether the room would come from the DVC inventory or the Disney Central Reservations (non-DVC) inventory. I can't remember what the consensus was. I believe you would book it through DVC Member Services to get the DVC member discount. In the past, the regular discount for everyone was more than the DVC member discount at times.
You can call MS and see if the room you want is available for a discount (DVC villas only). It is usually 25% off rack rate. Not all rooms are available but it is worth calling if you don't have the points to book that extra night.
The other option, as mentioned, is to buy up to 24 OTU points at the 7 month mark to book the night using points, assuming there are still rooms of your type open.
