Paying by cheque, how long to get there/clear?!

DW sent our payment out about a week and a half ago, and the money is still sitting in our account... she is getting stressed about it, but i figure it would take about 5 Bus days to mail it, and then 2 Bus days to sit in DW processing, and then another 3-5 days for it to clear through the banks (being international and all)... is that about right?

Is it a USD cheque drawn on a Canadian Bank?

I gave 12 post dated chqs for DD's rent in NYC and every month they take ages to clear from the date of Dep. Anywhere from 12 days to 21 days.

When she renews I will use the chqs from RBC Centura they clear same day.

I am sure it's in the works....they are getting sluggish with Canadian Bank chqs.

Yes, the cheque will usually take a lot longer than 3-5 days to clear.

Did you make sure that they will accept a cheque on a Canadian bank? A lot of places won't because of the hassle and the long holds their bank will place on the deposited funds. It can take three weeks easily before the whole transaction is cleared.

I know Disney used to take Canadian chqs for payment..but more and more many U.S businesses won't. They are just more trouble than they are worth...and they don't want them

It's all good was recieved on Tuesday and applied to the account on Thrusday, the bank just hasn't cleared it yet
