:o Please forgive me for this question. I have never paid for a hotel room by check always used credit card. How do you pay by check? Do you pay for the ramaining balance when you get there or when you check out? Also, can you still charge to your room if you are paying by check? Thanks again.::MickeyMo

I have never paid by check once at the resort, but I have mailed my payment in a check prior to arrival. You would pay the remaining balance upon your arrival and if there is a balance incurred during your stay, you would pay upon check out. I don't see why you couldn't pay with a check upon check in and out. I just never have. When are you going?

I have sent checks into disney in advance to pay for a reservation, I don't know what their policy is about paying once you are there. I also know you can send extra money in ahead of time via a check and have a room credit once you arrive to charge against.

my entire balance at check in....in 2002 it also included my UPH's. They called their check accepting place to verify my license, etc and that was it. My check was for over 2,000. I also paid by check to pick up our tickets for the Luau.

Not sure about using a check but you will pay for your rooms at check in, not check out.

I had the same question & called POR to make sure they would accept. We're going next week. They will accept a bank check, but not a personal check.

I'm confused - you mean a cashier's check? You can't write a personal check?

Yes you most certainly CAN write a personal check for your stay with proper Identification. I have done it, they do it all the time.

That's what I was told. A bank check/cashiers check was ok, but a personal wasn't if paying at check-in. Maybe you might want to give them a call before you go.

I think it is funny you ask that question because I just called yesterday to ask that question. I was told personal checks would NOT be accepted at check-in. Personal checks had to be received 11 days prior to arrival....I hope this helps.

I think you have to have personal checks ther in advance so they know that it will clear
if you knwo your total or around what your total will be you can add alittle extra and get a bank check before you leave and give them that at chekc in that way its guranteed most hotels take your total and then add some extra to it for room stuff like phone, movies, room service, so you could do that to and then youd be all set

Is this a new policy of not accepting personal checks? Like I said I paid my entire package balance (2400+) upon check in when we went in August 2002. They simply called their check verification place and got an approval number. I also paid by personal check to pick up tickets for the Luau.

Edited to add:

I called CRO/WDWTC to confirm and they said "you can write a personal check as long as you have a picture photo ID and a credit card for verification." I asked them to call and verify with the hotel we were staying at and I told them AKL and Pop Century. She put me on hold for a few and then came back and said they have the same policy she stated above.

You have to give them a credit card to swipe when you check-in in order to charge to your room. When you check out you CAN pay the bill by check.

You could bring travelers checks and use those very easily. It's just as easy as writing a check.
You could leave a credit card for incidentals charged to your room and then pay those charges with travelers checks upon check out.
I am not sure that you can have charging privileges without a credit card, but you can use travelers checks at most places and keep a small amount of cash on hand if needed.

I paid our entire balance by personal check upon arrival at the Contemporary last April. I did not hand over a credit card, nor was I told that the check would only be accepted when we checked out. We did not even have to stop at the front desk upon check out...everything was all set.:)

We have paid our balance at check-in with a personal check. And, if you want to use your room key to charge back to the room, they will let you give them x dollars to put on your account. There have been times that I had cash, but didn't want to charge to my credit card, and they let you give them the cash, so that you do not have to carry it around with you. But, of course, you can only charge up to the amount you have given them. Did I make that as clear as mud?!:hyper:

One thing to add to k&a&c'smom's post. We have also paid by check, mostly b/c debit cards have limits on them that checks don't have. You can give them a credit card for your room charges at the parks, etc. and either settle up the night before checkout with cash/debit card/check/etc., or have them turn off automatic checkout and settle up before you leave.

As others have said, you pay for your actually room(s) on check-in.

I just called the Poly to verify and was told that yes as long as you have ID and what is on the check matches what is on the ID there is no problem paying at checkin with a personal check.
