Yes, they do. Been there done that in the last two years.
I hope everyone is back on their feet soon.

I'll say this for the "recession," I think it's been a serious wake up call for a lot of people - my family included.

Oh yes I forgot to add in the hike in taxes and health care premiums. Since my DH was laid off in November we got a bill for 1200 dollars for cobra coverage for all of us. We can't afford that so just elected to insure the one of us that has medical issues and prescription needs and the rest of us arent! Last layoff the cobra cost 800 for all of us. Insurance doesn't kick in til 6 months at the new job. There wasn't the wriggle room to pay the difference.

Also no vacation or time off in over 3 years. Well unless you count the times my DH was out of work but then we were to stressed and didn't have enough money to go anywhere! l.

It is very tough and i agree with the PP that it has been a wakeup call. My DH informed his current employer he would need Part of august off for a sports thing for our daughter and that will be our first vacation if you can call it that in over 3 years! The touornament is supposed to be somewhere near us so we won't even get a change of scenery but just having some time off and hopefully not becaus of layoffs it would be like a vacation!

Imagine being a sales person making $20,800 and $24,960 a year, plus commission. Then it is decided you shouldn't get a salary -- so you take that much of a pay loss. It would be different if the market were better, but these people are now working a 40 hour week and often times getting no money.
