We have never used our debit cards at disney they are accepted at the restaraunts?
Do you have to worry about spending so much each day on a debit? We had a credit card once that would only allow so much spending in a certain period of time. Will that be a problem?

You will need to contact your bank and find out what there daily limit is or weekly limit. They will probably be able to raise you debit limit if you ask

We use our debit card..but, it has the visa logo on it.

Our daughters has the mastercard logo and she had no problem either.

Debit cards do have a daily limit..so be sure to check with your bank before you leave.

Your other option..is to put your debit card on account at your resort (if you are staying at a disney resort), and then use your room key to charge at the restuarants and shops.

I am pretty sure your daily limit applies to using the ATM only. I use my MC Debit for all kinds of purchases and never have a problem, and my limit is $300 but that is for ATM cash out, if I purchase I have never had a problem. I charged our airline tickets for example, a cost over $800 and had no problem at all.

Many banks do have a per day spending limit for debit cards, like $1000 or $1500.

It does vary by bank, mine has a $2000 a day limit

We've used our debit card and had no problems at all. We even used it at check-in for room charges.

Just like all the others, I haven't had a problem. As long as it has a major CC logo.. ie: Visa, MC, Discover, etc.

Yep, our debit (visa logo) has a $1000 daily limit. We use it for room charges and go dow the night before, pay half of it and then pay the other half with the express check out.

I always call my cc (including debit card) companies prior to our trip to notify them I will be spending large amounts of $$$ (LOL) in central Florida.

You should definitely call your bank before you go. A debit card usually has several limits. There is the per day limit for use as a debit card (where you use your PIN) and a credit card limit (where your card is swiped and you sign for the purchase). Our bank has a standard debit card limit that is pretty low - $200 per day. This would be for ATM withdrawals and purchases using the PIN. The credit card limit is higher at $1,500. But limits will vary from bank to bank. You can visit with your banker and ask them to set your limits higher if needed. I am a Personal Banker and we occasionally get calls from customers wondering why their card is not working. They don't even have to be on vacation. We get calls from customers in the checkout line at Wal-Mart. A $200 debit card limit doesn't go very far, especially if you have already been somewhere else and have used your card. Just be sure you call your bank before you go to see if your limits can be raised. It may save you some hassles.

I just want to jump in and remind people to definitely call credit cards and let them know you are traveling - especially if you do not usually spend that amount of money on them.
Three times (you would think I would learn) on various trips I had my credit card rejected due to suspicious spending. Very embarrasing! When I do remember to call the credit card company before I go away - I never had this problem.

Just though someone else might benefit from my "learning" experience that happened on our vacation....

We just came back from PA; stayed at a major chain hotel outside of Philly. We used our debit card for our room -- instead of credit -- WOW, 1st time ever!! When we checked in, I made sure that I told the front desk personnel that it was a DEBIT card (there were signs that said to do that). She said that there would be a hold on the account in the anticipated total amount of our stay (nightly rm rate x 4 nts). I said that was ok. On our 3rd day, we had problems using our card. By the time we got back to our hotel and I got on-line with the bank, it was late evening. I found out that although we had money in the bank, somehow the hold had been put through 3 times!!! I was in a PANIC! At this point, we had used up ALL of our cash and were heading home the next day to CT via NJ Tpke/GWB -- ie. tolls, tolls, tolls! (Not to mention no $$ for lunch for kids for a 4+ hour ride).

1st thing the next morning, prior to checking out, I explained the situation to the front desk staff, who acknowledged the mistake, and while we ate breakfast, they were able to call my bank who IMMEDIATELY lifted the hold, per the hotel's request. I was SO RELIEVED -- I didn't think banks worked that fast, thank goodness mine does!

Next time I use my debit for travel, I will know to get on-line with my bank immediately after check-in so I can see exactly how much is being held so I don't run into any problems.

Sorry for the long post, but thought it was good info to have!::yes::

Just so everyone knows, Disney only authorizes your debit/credit card for $1 on check in if you sign up for room charging/express check out. This is to verfy that it is a valid card. The last 3 times we have been we have logged onto our banking website immediately after entering our rooms to see this $1 charge. No other holds have ever been put on our cards while at Disney. A CM on here awhile ago said that it was because they are so huge, they have an agreement with the credit card companies they accept, to be able to collect their money whether or not you have any available credit left. Meaning that if you go over your credit limt when they try to charge your card upon express check out, they can either force the authorization through with the number from the $1 authorization, or you can pay with another type of payment, or they will get their money directly from your credit card company/bank and then allow the cc company/bank to come after you for the money. Either way, they WILL get their money!
