What do you do ?

Do you guys pay in full your trip when you make your res? Pay a little at a time or wait till the last to pay it ?

I got a package deal thats around 3k, 7 days at fort, 5 days park passes, unlimited water parks, and the dinning plan, gonna cost 1k in fuel, and I figgured another 500 -800 for just what ever while there, so about a $4800 trip

So what do you guys do? I can justify all three

Pay in full.........thus means all done nothing more to worry about
Pay a little at a time........... not so hard on the pocket book
Wait till last few days .........no sense in giving them money till its due

I just put the minimum deposit down. If you have to cancel for some reason, it's easier. I then pay the total amount when I check in. I feel your pain with the fuel costs. We will be driving 1000 miles to The Fort in September and then again in December. Hopefully, things will be improved by then. I'm not holding my breath though.

ya its just under 1000 miles for us each way, and at 10 mile a gal, and I figured at least $4 a gal......thats 800 rd trip, so I rounded up $1000

We drive about 1200 miles each way, I am hoping gas prices do not keep climbing.

I bought a package so I have to have it paid in full 45 days prior. I currently only paid the min req to make resi, but have the $$ to pay it in full, just wondering what most do

we did the dinning plan for it worked out good for us to use as far price, as well I dont want to cook on vac

I always pay by CC and only get a site ressie, so when I make the ressie they charge me for one night. Then when I check in they put the remainder on my CC and any other room charges are added when we check out on that ressie. Since we always stay at least a month and usually have multiple ressies I can split the costs over two CC billing periods and pay it off using on-line banking.

We've always had room/site only reservations so I usually bring cash and pay the balance on arrival and then leave the credit card for room charges. If we don't already have AP's then I purchase the tickets in advance from Undercovertourist.

This year we just paid the minimum, and will pay the balance just before the trip. I made reservations through AAA. We have relatives that may have medical issues, so we are prepared if we have to cancel the trip. We have a bank account set up with money for the trip, so when we pay the balance we shouldn't have to use credit cards or other payment options.

When we went in 2008 we paid the whole thing off right away, and got trip insurance. What was nice about that was that months before the trip, it was paid off. And a month after the trip we didn't have massive credit card bills show up! lol!

AAA has trip insurance that is a bit less than Disney's... we may use it, I haven't decided yet. When we got it in 2008 it allowed me to not worry about the trip if something happened. Now that we are returning and have a little experience with the trip, I am thinking we will skip it.

My payment schedule is based on how the canadian dollar is doing against the american dollar. Currently our dollar is 1.02 so needless to say we have paid for our September trip in full now and have all of our spending money transferred.... On our last trip, i paid the deposit and the remainder was paid 45 days out... Our dollar was only worth .88 cents...

This is how we handle reservations too. We place a deposit at reservation, then pay the balance at the front desk. No sense giving away your money before you have to. Hold on to your cash right up to the last minute I say...

I can't see any good reason for parting with my money before I have to, especially since we often make our reservations over a year in advance.

Howdy all...
I'm going to piggy back my question on here since it relates...
When I'm booking a package thru Disney, what are the time frames? Deposit is due right away and then how long till remainder? We had to push our trip back until May 2012 and I'd love to just book now and start paying a little each month till we go (like a layaway Disney trip! lol).

Like most, when we book our reservation usually online, we just pay the required deposit and then the balance at check in. We have on occassion paid it in full, when using our Disney CC, that way we earn points to use while on vacation!!
