Pay for DVC with Credit Card?

Just want to make sure: Can you pay for the entire purchase if you buy direct from DVC? I figure I may as well get a free airline ticket out of the deal...

I did it on the Disney Visa and used the rewards to cover food at the parks. Plane tixxs is a good one also. You may as well use the perks from a card to your advantage.

You probably want to contact your credit card company first. I did this with our first DVC purchase and the large amount sent up a bunch of flags in the credit card company's system even though I had called them in advance. I was blocked out of further purchases until I paid the amount in full. It was quite a hassle that I finally got resolved. I then cashed out the rewards on that card and closed the account...I just thought it was handled rudely.

In any event, just be aware that such a large purchase (unless it's not unusual for you ) will send up some flags.

Bought direct from Disney using my visa. I put the deposit on visa and paid the remainder on my return home. Ive done this twice.

I did notify visa about the large amount and everything went fine. No hassles.

We paid with our credit card. I do not like having a really large limit on my card so I asked Accounting to split it into two amounts. They were happy to do it and even pushed back the second date because I had a delay bringing the money over from the UK.

In addition to the red flags that a large purchase may send to a credit card company, I would double check if there is a limit to how much you can charge that applies toward a credit card rewards program. Some companies cap the individual purchase and/or the total annual amount that can apply to a rewards program. My credit card, for example, allows $10K per individual transaction, with a total annual max of $60K. It may help you in planning when and how to divide up the transactions.

Being able to purchase with a credit card is another advantage of purchasing direct form DVC.
We used our Disney Visa up to the max that they would allow for six months free interest, and then put the rest on another incentive card.
Like you said, may as well get something out of it.

Wow that's great!! We tried to do that with our car but they wouldn't take a credit card just cash. But it's good to know DVC does. After the car thing I probably wouldn't have tried DVC.

Don't wait too long as a price increase or end to a promotion would offset any rewards.

We've done this several times all without difficulty. As NARM Forever noted accounting will split up the charge with different dates if you like. They are quite easy to work with.

Bought from DVC using AMEX. Total was right near my credit limit. Paid balance in full when I got the bill. Earned 2 free roundtrips!
HOWEVER:
Recently notified by homeowners insurance that 3rd party agency has reported to them that I have charged amount on credit card near limit. Therefore they can not offer me lowest rate on policy renewal. (I am 20 year customer that has never paid late). AMICA INSURANCE says that they partially base rates on credit reports from 3rd party contractors! They MUST do this to remain competitive with other insurers. SO BEWARE: Charging LARGE AMOUNTS on your CC can affect your insurance rates.
IMHO This is a Crock of Crap - I am still fighting with AMICA!!!!!!!!!!!!

We put our whole purchase on our mileage card. (Free plane ticket!) We split it up between two payments.

If you have the credit line disney will alow. I did on american express for the air miles also. You have to rember the interest is high on credit cards if you can't pay off on next bill.
