In addition to being able to pay via credit card online, you can now pay your dues online via gift card. In the past, members would have to call in to pay via gift card. Until the 2017 dues are officially loaded, any payments made are treated as credits to your contract account to offset future liabilities. I view the ability to pay online via gift card as a significant positive change that will save a lot of phone time for many members.

Also, for those that utilize the Disney Vacation Account to pay dues, I can confirm that if you select the gift card option and enter your DVA number that the transaction is accepted and posts as a "Purchase" in your DVA (just as it did paying via telephone with a CM in past years) and counts toward the DVA bonus (again, just as it did in past years by paying via phone CM). I received the email that my DVA bonus is on its way, however I will disclose that I haven't actually received the bonus via the mail yet.

This is good news! Just checked and the options to pay now include a credit card, a Disney gift card, a Disney Rewards Redemption Card and if you have a credit card on file with Disney, that particular credit card.

Thanks for sharing the news, Friendlyadvice2. :) :)

Great. I will be paying my dues using a gift card this year. Sounds like it will be easy.

Is it one gift card max allowed for payment?

Last I read is 5 was max back in 2015 but I am not sure, I am wondering this as well. I see you can buy gift cards for up to $500 now, so I would probably want to buy 2 or 3 using my AMEX then use the cards to pay my DVC dues. Am I doing this right?

You can combine gift card balances to one card with a maximum card limit of $1000 on disneygiftcard.com so you can purchase more gift cards if you want to combine them.

How strict is the 120-day rule concerning the DVA bonus? With the MF due in January, I won't have it open for 120 days by the time I make that payment.

LAX

The DVA 120 day rule is very strict and system monitored. You can make purchases, but they won't count toward the bonus. The only rule I've found to be lax is that I have immediate access to my gift card deposited funds versus the few day wait period stated for deposits.

I just went to the DVA website to see how I would be able to take advantage of the bonus feature if I spend from a DVA account to pay my annual dues. As I scrolled through the FAQs, I came across my specific question (under "Using Your Disney Vacation Account):

Can I apply my Disney Vacation Account toward the Annual Dues for my Disney Vacation Club Membership?

No, your Annual Dues cannot be paid using your Disney Vacation Account.

Does this mean it won't work if I pay annual dues from a DVA?

Thank in advance for any guidance!

@dragonflymom, the FAQs for the DVA have always said that regarding paying dues with the DVA and technically that is correct. However, DVA transactions are processed as gift card transactions. Therefore, for the last few years members have been able to pay dues via phone CM by telling them their payment method is gift card and subsequently providing their DVA number as the gift card number. As of this year, this can now be done online by selecting payment method as gift card.

I can confirm that I received the DVA bonus timely.

Gift cards have a $1000 limit, does the DVA account have a transaction limit? Can you put $3000 in the account and use it to pay $3000 in dues?

@disneynutz (Bill), the $1,000 gift card limit does not apply to the DVA. Yes, you could easily load "$3,000" into the account to pay dues. I've loaded much more than that in previous years and paid multiple contracts via phone at the same time with the same "gift card" (DVA) number. Now it can be done online too. Finally having the ability to pay online via gift card (or DVA) is a positive action by DVC.

I looked at the member site, but only see option to pay 2016 dues which are already paid. Where or what do I click on so I can pay ahead for 2017 dues?

Not posted until after the association meeting in December.

If you want to prepay before the 2017 dues are officially loaded, you can click "make a payment", then choose "pay other amount", enter the amount you want to pay, select your payment method at the bottom, and the payment will be applied as a credit toward the 2017 dues when they are officially loaded.
