Can this be done? DH and I will be traveling with some friends and I will be buying vouchers and they will not. If we all go out to eat together will the waiter accept vouchers for us and cash or credit card from them to pay for the bill?

Thanks!

We've not had any problems doing this. We just tell the server who is using the voucher.

Thank you. I was worried that I would purchase the vouchers and then not be able to use them because the restaurant wouldn't accept half and half. Thanks again.

This is not a problem. We did this often with my DH & I using vouchers and us paying cash for the kids. Just keep in mind that your vouchers include the tip.

Maggie: would you how much of a tip is on the voucher? I mean if I have a voucher for Rain forest Cafe and I am eating like 50 bucks worth of food and only paid 30 dollars for the voucher..shouldnt i be tipping a little more with cash too??

I believe they get their tip based on how much the food costs, not how much you paid for the voucher. That is why so many of the waiters encourage you to get the most expensive items, as it boosts their tip. You are, of course, free to leave more tip, if you feel it necessary. i.e. you had great service, etc.

I just mentioned the fact that the tip was included because one time I let my husband sign for the bill and he didn't realize the tip was included with the vouchers and he left a BIG tip based on the whole meal costs. I personally didn't think the waiter even deserved the tip he got with the voucher, let alone the extra. But, I digress.

Also, your friends might come out a bit ahead if you do not need all the food you can legitimately get with your voucher. If you are entitled to the gargantuan amount of food they give you in Rainforest, they could use some of it for their portion. They could just pick up the tab for whatever was not included in the voucher and the tip for that (assuming you ordered nothing that wasn't covered).

My husband, two sons (14 and 16) and I ate dinner at the Rainforest in AK. The server was quick to tell us all the things we cold have---including the fact that the full serving salads (like chicken ceasar salad) was included in addition to a full meal (steak and lobster). The four of us were not able to eat two vouchers worth of food. I promise you that we tried, but we were not able to eat more than a few mouths worth of that volcano each. We were using a lunch voucher at the very tale end of lunch (think it was 4pm) so it was $30 per voucher. $60 may seem like a lot for lunch, but it's rare that four adults can eat at a sit down restaurant for $60 for dinner including tip. I think we ordered one extra drink and that was it except for the vouchers.

My husband and I and 2 kids used 2 vouchers at Beaches and Cream for lunch. The burgers and hot dogs were large enough to split , lots of fries, and the sundaes for desert were very large and delicious. We could hardly finish and were all stuffed. Not worth it to buy children's vouchers. We had no trouble paying for the extra drinks while using vouchers.
