Anyone have one? I know the concrete pavers look beautiful, but are there any cons? How much maintenance do they require? Are weeds a problem? TIA :sunny:

You can't really use that up here...weeds and very hard to plow the snow. Not that you'd have that problem....

You can control most of the weed problem by putting a good quality "weed blocker" layer under the sand layer under the pavers, but there will still be weeds/grass/etc. to get rid of. Or you could try the "new" paver that allows grass to grow in/through them (try googling turf pave or just "grass pavers"). This way, you still have grass, but can park a car on the area.

My guess is the only real maintenance issue is replacing the ones that crack.

We don't have a paver driveway but we have pavers lining our driveway and paver patios in front and back around our pool.
They are FANTASTIC !!! We LOVE them. They look great. Grass may come up once in a while, but not really. sometimes they have to pounded back in the sand.
They require a little maintenance, but not a lot. We really enjoy them their beauty is worth the extra care.
It looks SOOOO much more finished than cement. :goodvibes

I've got a paver driveway. Yes, we get some weeds, but I go out every couple of weeks with the Weed-B-Gone stuff and spary them back into submission.

ps...we didn't use the 1"-2" flat or hexagonal pavers sold at home depot, we used tumbled brick sold at the brick supply. they are regular bricks but have been tumbled and flashed. (makes them look old).
this looks a lot more finished/expensive than the home depot pavers.
we used these everywhere. its very much the look here in Phx.

we paid about .50 cents a brick if this helps you. plus sand and labor for the installers. ;)

just a thought...stencilled/stamped concrete might be another option.

It can be colored and "patterned" to look like pavers, but you certainly wouldn't have the weeds/grass problem.

Pavers are more expensive to install because they must be done pretty much by hand...with stencilled/stamped concrete, it could be a much faster/cheaper option.

There is a house in my neighborhood that has the stenciled "look", but I don't like the way it looks at all, too busy. Another house on the same block has the stamped concrete, which looks fine, but it seems "too linear". Pavers have more dimension to them. The stamped concrete seems like it would be easier to maintain.
