Friday 28th September
Today its back to Epcot for our last full day in the world until next year. We decided to make an effort and get up early in order to get to Epcot by park opening.
We were at the turnstiles by 8:45am, once the turnstiles were opened we walked up to Innoventions plaza and waited for rope drop at 9am. We headed straight for Test Track since we hadnt been on it this trip, as we pulled back in after the ride the queue was empty so we got a second ride without having to queue. After Test Track we blasted off to Mars (Orange Mission) before doing one of Ruths favourites Ellens Energy Adventure at the Universe of Energy pavilion.
Today is the first day of the Food & Wine Festival, the welcome centre for the festival was located in the Wonders of Life pavilion so as we were passing we decided to have a look inside. There was a wine tasting session about to begin, but the queue was quite long (and it is wasted on me) so we decided to pass. We did spot Deb Wills of All Ears fame and Ruth had a chat with the DVC guide and looked at the AKV displays.
Next we headed over to the Land and picked up a Fastpass for Soarin before heading back upstairs to do the Circle of Life show. We exited the show and went straight on Living With The Land boat ride through the greenhouses.
It was now time for my favourite, Soarin after which we decided to get some lunch from Sunshine Seasons. I went for the Half Roast Chicken, which was nice but hard work with a plastic knife & fork. For dessert I went for the Chocolate Mousse Cake (predictable as always), meanwhile Ruth went for the Grilled Salmon and Strawberry Shortcake.
We headed out of the Land into the Seas with Nemo & Friends, Ruth really likes the new clamshell ride, I must admit it is cute. Next we did Turtle Talk with Crush, all the changes have really increased interest in the Seas pavilion which is nice.
After Crush we headed out and round to the Imagination Pavilion, I didnt manage to get Ruth on Honey I Shrunk The Audience this time, once every 2-3 years is her limit. Instead we went on Journey Into Imagination with Figment. It was now about 2pm, having done most of Future World we decided to head back to our resort for a break.
Suitably refreshed, we headed back to Epcot about 5pm and went straight up to World Showcase to check out some of the Food & Wine stalls.
We originally had an ADR at Chefs de France, but had decided to cancel it. We debated trying a few things from the Food & Wine stalls but elected to go for our last table service meal instead. Since there was no chance of getting anything in Epcot we decided to head out through the International Gateway and caught the Friendship boat to the Boardwalk. We had a look at the menu for Spoodles and decided to see if we could get a walk up. We only had to wait a couple of minutes before being seated, we had originally planned to try this restaurant in July but ended up changing it.
I decided to go for Four Cheese Flatbread to start
Ruth went for the Greek Salad
for entrée we both went for the Oak Fired Steak Kabob which was delicious
and for dessert we shared the Sampler For Two, which consisted of a sample size Chocolate Apricot Pistachio Cake, Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee, White Chocolate Orange Cake & House-Made Gelato, yummy!
After dinner we walked back to Epcot, picked up our wristbands for extra magic hours and continued around to the American pavilion to watch The American Adventure before Illuminations. After the fireworks we strolled around to the Refreshment Outpost and had an ice cream sundae each, strawberry for Ruth and chocolate for me
By now a lot of the crowds had died down so we went on Maelstrom and the Gran Fiesta Tour before heading round to the Canadian pavilion to do O Canada one last time. By now it was 11pm and I wanted to do Soarin one last time, so we headed for the Land and joined the queue. After the ride it was going up for midnight so we decided to head out and get some sleep.
Tomorrow Last day, Disney MGM Studios & home.
