Patagonia Jacket Purchase

My college aged DD says that she wants a $250 Patagonia Prairie Dawn Insulated jacket. Patagonia products, like Uggs, are usually pretty priced fixed. Does anyone know a shopping portal that might help me save some money? I wish she had told me last week since I was in the Chicago store and they had 20% for college students. I think I could have convinced them to give me that discount with a photo of her student ID.

I use Ebates for ALL my shopping! They give cash back and generally have coupon codes at most stores. No fees, no tricks!

Can't always get what you want. I'd have her look for other, more reasonable options.

I would've been told, you want it, get a job and go get it.
It's a holiday gift and one that I can afford. I just want to save some money where I can!

This jacket will also be the one that she wears for the next 4 years, as was the last jacket I bought for her. If it makes you feel any better that's exactly what I said when she asked for a Canada Goose jacket. The *was* the more reasonable option.

They're on Moosejaw for $179 right now (I googled to see what the jacket was) and 10% off if you get on the mailing list. I have bought my kids' Northface from there a few times.

editing to add, although i guess it's different from the one specifically labelled insulated, that one is still $249. I'd still check Moosejaw off and on and see what you can find there :)

Good luck!! I hope you find the perfect deal for her gift!

I would go thru ebates, and purchase from Moosejaw. Join their rewards program (current offer is 30% back in rewards dollars). You'll get 4.5% back from ebates, and the rewards from Moosejaw. I've purchased a few Columbia jackets for DS on Moosejaw, racked up some decent rewards, and treated DH and I to some Yeti tumblers that we took to Aruba to use for our adult beverages on the beach, and it did not cost me a dime extra over the rewards I used.

One thing to note about Patagonia is that they have a lifetime guarantee. If the jacket ever rips, stitching comes undone, etc, it's covered; they'll either fix it or replace it. My daughter and son-in-law like to buy Patagonia for this reason and they have used the guarantee a few times.

ETA: my daughter was a buyer for Fleet Feet and was very familiar with brands of that sort. Patagonia is one of her favorites.

Well bummer :(. It's only 10% rewards.

The promotion does not apply to the following brands which only earn the regular 10% or 2.5% rates: Patagonia, Western Mountaineering, GoPro, Hilleberg, Garmin, Kayaks, and all Stand-up Paddleboard (SUP) brands.

I still might go with them for the 4.5% ebates cash back.

I get postcards in the mail with discounts for them. I had a really great discount code last year and was very close to buying a jacket. I just procrastinated and didn’t buy it. We live in Florida so would have limited wear. I think I ended up on their mailing list after a trip to TN we bought a couple items from their clearance section when we popped into one of their stores that was near our hotel. I really like their items. It’s just hard to justify when when you live in warmer states. If I get another discount code I will try to remember to let you know.

thanks so much!

Do you belong to REI? Right now you get $40 off if you spend $200, but it's only good through the end of October. REI often has a deal to get a gift certificate with you join, amount varies. Costs $20 to join, that's a lifetime cost no charge every year but have to spend $10/year to keep membership active. It's a co-op so you get a dividend every year on what you spend there - typically it's around 10% And the REI MasterCard gives you a $100 gift card when you're approved.

Brad's Deals has Patagonia every now and then. They monitor prices and then show the cheapest and tell you by how much and where to buy. I've never used them for Patagonia but have gotten great deals on North Face through them.

I got my Patagonia at REI, not with a coupon, but on clearance. I was going to get a black one, but on the clearance rack found the same coat in purple, on clearance for $60 less. For $60, I wear purple :-). We found the same with my daughters Kuhl coat, and my husbands REI raincoat. Often certain colors are on clearance much cheaper.

Yes! I am an REI member. I was considering looking into their MasterCard to get the bigger dividend. I think this may be the way I’ll go even though I’ll have to pay sales tax. I found 2 places that will give me 10% off but the combination of everything from REI seems to be the best deal. I didn’t know about the $40 off $200.

Is she a small? I went on Ebay and there is one on Ebay at this moment for $140 in a small, with tags.

It looks like they run about 130 to 170 with tags on Ebay. . .
Thank you! But there are 2 types and she wants the more expensive insulated one for Wisconsin winters. Plus, I'm afraid of eBay knock-offs.

@PlutoPony, can you point me in the direction of the $40 off $200 at REI? I can't find it anywhere. I scored a 15% off REI coupon by joining their mailing list. That will match the other company's 10% plus tax.

Maybe wait for Black Friday? Last year, most items were about 30% off, and they donated 100% of their proceeds to environmental organizations.

Thanks! Hmmm. I’ll need to think about that. It looks like the 30% off is their normal Black Friday discount.

It was in a card that came from our local store. This is 1st time we’ve gotten something like this directly from the store. Maybe just certain ones are offering it? It’s only good thru the 30th btw.....
The 15.% is good. Plus you will get the dividend from it.
