We cruised a few months ago and when we arrived at the port they checked our PAT before allowing us in. What happens if we are staying at Hyatt MCO and get there before our PAT?

Are you taking DCL transfers from the MCO Hyatt? If so, you are given a PAT based on the transportation from the hotel and they let you into the port terminal when you arrive without checking it.

Yes we are using DCL transfers. Thanks for confirming. That's what I thought but we cruised out of NYC a few months ago and they checked our PAT inside the building as we were getting ready to go through security. I just started thinking about it and wondered if it was going to be the same at MCO. If so - they wouldn't have known if we came via DCL transfer or not. Thanks again!

Make sure you tell them that you're staying at the MCO Hyatt, as they now do that separately from the airport. There is a whole process (slightly changed from our trip in September but still similar) that is done in the lobby of the hotel, and they put you on buses at the downstairs outside entrance to the hotel, not in the airport. We got to the port a little before 10:30, and they ushered us right in and checked us in.

If you haven't specified that you're coming from the Hyatt, they'll just assume you're taking it from the airport, and then you'll have to book your PAT independently and manage your time to arrive. Whether they check your PAT when you arrive will, I think, depend on how busy the cruise is. When we sailed in January 2023, we drove with friends, and we weren't even asked for our PAT before letting us in the port, but I've heard different things from other people.

Also, if you don't tell them that you're coming from the MCO Hyatt, they won't pick your luggage up from your room in the morning - you'll have to take it with you.
