We used to love the location in New Orleans but of course it was basically a huge bar for adults only. I assume that the location on City walk is more of a restaurant for everyone? Is is any good? More importantly, does it have a fountain courtyard?

Pat O'Brien's has 3 separate areas: The Courtyard with fountain which is the main restaurant, the bar across from the Piano Bar (I have never seen kids in here, but that's not to say they're not allowed), and The Piano Bar. The Piano Bar is typically adults only after 9 pm. They will make an announcement before hand that all underage people will need to leave. They changed their policy recently and no longer serve food in the Piano Bar. HOWEVER, if it is raining, then they obviously do not use the Courtyard, and families are welcomed into the Piano Bar for full restaurant service and underaged kids are not asked to leave at 9.

That has been my experience, at least.

Last year we didn't feel like eating outside, so the 3 of us ate at the bar (like 4:30 dinner).... I know kids can't get in to eat after 9pm...adults only.
 the beignets

Mine is 14 so he is well past pest age...well to everyone but me ;). I had no plans to take him to Pat O'Briens at all until I saw that someone might be going there with young kids. I am glad that a portion of the place is reserved for grownups though.

I would like to know if the Hurricane drinks are as good as New Orleans....I went to the one in NO and had 2 and i was done...WOW....strong but very very good

Plutolvr is the expert there.... ;)

I'm an avid drinker and ordered a Hurricane when I was on a solo trip with my daughter in February. I couldn't drink it all because it was to strong for me to remain a responsible parent. Gotta love the Hurricane......

Yes, they are! Very good, but crazy strong. Two is, um, *generally* my limit, too, but when I'm finished with my second one, I seem to develop this -- albeit unfortunate -- belief that I'll be fine with one more. You know, "The night's still young, they don't put that much rum in these. I had two with dinner; I'll get another one to go and walk around with it." That's when things go bad, and it's days before I can even smell something alcoholic again.

They do have smaller ones in plastic cups you can get at the to-go window.

Cheers :drinking1

My wife refers to the Hurricanes at Pat O'Briens K'yoya's (Knock you on your assers)

I'm sorry we didn't get to meet while we were there. I've done this very same thing ... 3, and I didn't remember returning to the hotel or getting ready for bed. Fortunately, I'm a happy drunk and I have a hubby who will take out my contacts and get me ready for bed... We had 2-for-1 Hurricane coupons this past trip, but Mike doesn't drink Hurricanes, and I knew if I had both Hurricanes, we'd have an early night.

Also, for those who don't know, your Hurricane includes your glass. Simply give your glass to the host/ess near the front entrance and they will rinse out your glass or give you a fresh one and pack it up for you to take home (unless that's changed in the past few months).
