Once was enough!lol

After NEVER being chosen for Secondary TSA Screening,I have been told I have alerted the Machine the last 2 times leaving MCO and again leaving my home Airport yesterday.

My question is how good are the Machines if they consistenly produce so many false positives?

The Pat Downs are really something!lol

 Why are you being screened leaving a secured area? Or have I misunderstood you?

Do you have any idea what it was or were you just the lucky random to get frisked, maybe it's your name or face is similar to someone on a list somewhere? One time I was carrying a roll of quarters in a film canister for WDW laundry facilities and they just kept wanding the bag over and over for like 20 min instead of just asking me, then I explained what I had and it was over. The TSA Precheck & Global clearance might help avoid that in the future.

Is it the body scanners or the x ray machines for your bags? That makes a big difference.

If it's a body scanner I've had multiple times that my bra (back part) for whatever reason set it off. Fine a quick pat on the back no biggie. Pre-9/11 and after 9/11 for a few years I flew standby on flights. My stepmom was a travel agent with a stellar deal for Delta and Northwest but you flew standby. Back then body scanners weren't really around but I always got hand wanded every time because my ticket was a 1-way with no return booked (you didn't book these tickets you literally filled out the ticket at the airport since we were always flying standby).

If it's the x ray machine for your bags? Flew back from Vegas a month ago and the gift for my mom from the M&M store set it off. Understandable given it's size and shape. They opened the bag pulled it out wanded it and off we went. I've had from Baltimore my tums container set it off. While my home airport at least when this happened didn't require belts to be removed the one and only time I didn't remove it I got extra wanded. Coming back from my honeymoon the wooden vase set off the machine but again understandable given it's size and shape.

Unless you're misunderstanding things (or I'm misunderstanding what you're saying) it's not that they are false positives but rather the size, shape, etc of something in your bag or the color on body scanner, obstruction, etc warrants a secondary look. I wouldn't ever think to describe these situations as false positives.

I understood it as flying FROM MCO twice and once flying from their home airport.

By any chance were you wearing a hoodie or a bulky sweater/sweatshirt. A number of years ago I had an extra pat down because I had a hoodie on. The TSA agent even said it was because I was wearing a hoodie.

So leaving from, as in taking a flight from, not walking out of the buildings? OK, that makes more sense.

Nope-just light clothing without any hint of metal, etc.

Very strange.

Too many pat downs -- that's why I invested in TSA pre-check. Just in time for Covid to hit. Still waiting to skip the pat-downs.

Agreed. They just waive us on through every time. Plus our credit card reimbursed us for the fees.

You're making an assumption here that may not be correct. Of course they have to pull aside anyone that the machine flags, but they may also be under orders to pull aside every twentieth person, for example.

The machine at Disney Springs was going off like crazy when we were there at Christmas. I don't really understand the point. They just would wake people in even though they were setting it off. One family that set it off, the mom was holding a water bottle. The security told her just to go on it was probably that. Didn't even check it. Didn't make me feel a bit safer so what's the point? Guessing someone who wants to do harm will figure out a way around it.

For some reason at the airport my husband and I set it off. Then they tested us for explosives!!! I was like what in the world.

We got TSA-Pre and my daughter was so excited that we would no longer have to go through the scanner, but only the walk through metal detector instead. First time through, the was randomly selected y the machine to get the scanner :D

If our family is traveling via air, my son and I have to get patted down every time. He is in a wheelchair and can't stand in the x-ray machine alone. Because I am pushing the wheelchair, they usually send me through the machine AND pat me down. Most of the time the pat down isn't too bad and I really don't care or mind. But there was one time I was like "Whoa there!" That was a bit too private for my taste.

Always do ur pat downs out in public, not in a room out of peoples view..just say’n
