We are heading to US/IOA for 2 days in August and while I'm perfectly content with eating lunch and dinner at Margarittaville, I thought I would look at a few other places. I saw this special on the passholder website and thought I would ask. So how's the food? We are myself and DH, my DD and her DH and my grandkids: DGS (17), DGD (6), and DGD (4). I know we get 10% off at most sit down locations, but the girls eating for free would be a plus.

PastamoreSM – 10% on food & beverages (excludes alcohol), plus kids (ages 3-9) eat free for dinner (with the purchase of an adult entrée – limit 1 for up to $6.95)

I would welcome other suggestions too. Not anything too expensive, or fancy. My granddaughters do not like characters at all, so that is not an option for us. We tend to eat most of our meals outside the parks in CityWalk. We have eaten at the Kitchen too. We are staying at Portofino. I do tend to end up at Margaritaville for many reasons: love the food and choices, the drinks, and we have a 20% discount card (Locals VIP card offered to AP holders last year).

Also, most important, should I be making reservations? :confused3 We arrive in 7 weeks and we've always just eaten whereever we could get in, but since we are a party of 7 this time, not so sure how flexible things will be.

I welcome good and bad reviews! Tks!

Have you heard of youfirst? I was reading about the "pick a perk" promo. I'm not sure if your stay would qualify but if it does the kids could eat free at the hotel.

I've dined at Pastamore twice and found the food bland both times. Alternative suggestions are The Latin Quarter, Hard Rock Cafe, or Bubba Gumps.

Thank you, I did take your advice and looked into this. We have a card, though not used it for years. Seems like Orlando is excluded from this perk. Too bad.

We love Pastamore, and eat at it quite a few times every trip, and never been disappointed. some 20% coupons on here www.orlandocoupons.com

Thanks I'll check out that site!

We were looking at Bubba Gumps too. With the little kids they don't like anything too fancy or anything that takes too long, though my 17yo grandson loves shrimp, so this might be an option too.

some places at city walk that i do repeats on are
HRC
NBA City
Latin Quarters

i'm not into bubba gumps.
i thought it was over priced and food just ok
not as fond of nascar selection of food.

check out the menus in advance.
if you see food items that you really like, then try that restaurant.

hotel restaurants do have a good menu with an assortment of food types.

Almost any offer that is on the loews hotel website will not be valid for Orlando Hotels. The only offers you can normally get come from the Universal website (or having AAA or AP or something along those lines). However, the Orlando hotels DO use the YouFirst program. So, after enough stays, you can start getting the perks.

As for Pastamore, it was just OK. It opens at 5pm for dinner. We found the building REALLY hot. We ate there about a week ago during the hot summer, but inside the restaurant was only about 5 degrees cooloer than outside. The food again was just OK. Most of the desserts they offer can be purchased at the Bakery inside IOA...for almost 1/2 the price! We got 2 of the peanut butter diamonds at Pastamore for $4.95 each. The next day we notice them at the Bakery at IOA and our bill for 2 of them was LESS than the price of ONE at Pastamore! I found it not as good as Olive Garden and I doubt we will go back.

I had Pastamore for the first time a few months ago and I enjoyed it. The only thing we didn't care for were the pastas.

The appetizers are good, the pizza is great, and the bread that comes with the meal is yum too. But we had the chicken pesto pasta and the gnocchi and neither was anything to write home about.

But I'd go back for pizza and to try some of the other entrees.

We ate there 3 weeks ago.... it was just bad. My son did the kid buffet and he didn't like it. I tried a couple of his items and they were very bland and stale tasting.

My main dish was a chicken and gluten-free pasta. The pasta was extremely undercooked. Not al dente.... almost raw. Disgusting.

My son loved the bread. That's about it.

We've haven't been there in years. We never were very impressed with it.

I have mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, we got carry-out pizza from there twice on our trip last July and it was amazing-- probably the best pizza I've ever had. We also ate sit-down once (without a reservation), and it was just so-so. It was good but nothing special.

Have fun on your trip! :goodvibes

I find that the quick/ counter service they have on the side is very good! Probably because it's a separate kitchen. But as far as dining goes, we weren't too impressed. Tried Shrimp Scampi and the sauce was very watery. Other foods there were just not very good and overpriced for the quality (which was crap to be honest.)

Thanks for the reviews....I'll have to rethink my plans.

We were down the first week of June. We tried Pastamore and it was just bad. The kids buffet had very limited options. I had one of the pizzas and was only able to get one slice down, it was just yuck. We did not get bread, but the waiter kept telling us it would be out soon. My husband had alfredo and he said it tasted like bottled sauce. Nothing special. We went back to Bubba Gumps the next night. They had kids options that my picky 8 year old loved. The atmosphere kept everyone entertained.
