Pasta Salad: Pasta or Salad?

Salad or side dishes.... actually I'd just lose the recipe cause Ihave never had a pasta salad that I like...

So I've got this new book for recipe cards and it has categories for "Soups and Salads" and "Pasta", and I can't decide what to put a recipe for pasta salad under. Would it be considered pasta or a salad? I say salad, my mom says pasta. What do YOU think?

I would file it under Salad if it's cold.

Pasta because I'd consider it a starchy side rather than a vegetable. Just to make things easier for me when meal planning (yes, I know a salad doesn't have to be a vegie, but I'd be skimming my salad recipes for vegie ideas and my pasta recipes for starch ideas).

I'd put it under salad if it is served cold and as a side dish. Under pasta I'd put the hot main dish types of recipes.

If you are serving it as a side dish - it is a salad; if it is served as a main course, it is pasta.

Now if you call it Pasta/macaroni "Salad", it is salad
