Hi Guys,
I am a rundisney newbie... doing the 1/2 in January and it said that anyone that registers before 12/1 will get a commerative ticket... what does that mean? And is the pasta party worth it?

Sorry...been trying to dig around the website and see what you are referring to...

Looks like the commemorative "ticket" is just a nicely printed ticket for the Pasta in the Park party...which I suppose will be good for your scrapbook?
As to whether the Pasta in the Park party is worth it...depends....
You get a pretty decent dinner, tables to sit at and mingle with other runners, chances to take your pics with a few characters with medium length lines, and you can go into Epcot after the party and watch Illuminations from a reserved area (I think either by England or by the bridge to France, but I don't recall). There is also a cash bar if you want an adult beverage.

I did the party in 2010...I liked it, and had good character interactions. We might have skipped Illuminations because that was the very cold year, so maybe that's why I don't remember where the reserved viewing was.
So whether it's worth it is if you think $47 is a good deal for dinner, characters, and a little park time. To me, it was comparable to a character meal, so that's why we went.

Am I doing it again this year? No...but that's a matter of 'been there, done that' , not a negative review. :)

Commimorative tickets for any disney event are simply printed with a nice picture on the back side. Sometimes it could be related to the theme of the event (think the halloween or christmas parties at MK.) I'm not sure if the ticket will be marathon weekend themed, but it's just your ticket into the party, nothing else. I'm thinking about doing it for the princess 1/2 since It's only about $20 more per person than a nice sit down would be at the restaurants.

I think it a good deal, also. Though like ironz it is most likely a once and done. The 2010 event was cold but and we were allowed an extra 60-90 minutes park time that year. I have asked my bro - a WDWM newbie - if he wants to go. If he says yes, then it will a a go.

As i recall, the special viewing area was the large area on the Future World end of the World Showcase. We did not stick around, opting to head to DTD for a white Choc Mocha to warm the bones.

For logisitcs, the meal is held in the Millennium Event building behind England.

Coach Charles!! there you are! Was just thinking I hadn't seen many posts from you, though I don't hit this board quite as much lately. Hi! :goodvibes

Yeah, I liked that Pasta Party and we got some good character photo ops. Also got a photo with the other girl that was hobbling around in a boot, like I was, though at least I was wearing it as a protective measure and could still do the races without it. Hopefully no boot or injuries this year!
I swore I wouldn't do Goofy again...here I go! :rotfl: May it please not be quite so cold this year like it was in 2010. Cool is great, sub-freezing...eh, not so much.

We prob won't do the pasta party this year, but it was fun. Our "special" dinner this trip (after the races) will be at HDDR! Yeehaw!

I had to laugh on Saturday of 10 when folks were complaining about slipping on ice... I would yell over to get off the painted stripes and they would be fine.... then came Sunday; with the real ice. I have run several sub freezing races (ok a few) and have never seen the water zones freeze up.... but then they were not shaded either.

Sorry for the hijack.

Thanks for your input... I think it sounds like something that we would do. We aren't sure how many days to get a park pass for so that isn't a horrible price for dinner and entrance to the park.

This year Mary and I are on Annual passes since we made 2 weekend trips to the area. Normally, we purchase a hopper ticket for 2 days less than we really think we will need and then add the extra day or two on at the end as we find that we need them.
