I know that Free Dining is normally offered in August/September, but what is usually offered for January-February? In past years, what have the discounts been (besides the buy 4 get 7 deal - which is great!)?

DH and I have had to cancel our September 2009 trip (that included free dining with a bounceback.. booooo) and reschedule for sometime in January or February.

Which month would you recommend? Which has the better discounts, historically?

Thank you in advance! :thumbsup2

When we went in Jan. '08 we were offered a free park hopper upgrade, which I THINK is what is usually offered at this time of year. We are hoping to go again Jan. '10 and need/hoping for a better discount. We loved going in January, the weather was great, but it was our first trip ever, so I have nothing to compare the crowd levels to. We sure learned a lot!

Ooh, only free upgrades? That's not a great discount... I was hoping for a room only discount or possibly some sort of cool package discount... but that's not the norm, I guess?

I wish it was a room discount or something else, but it wasn't. But, I did just contact our travel agent to have her keep an eye out and she was saying that with the economy the way it is she would expect a better discount to be given to the January time frame, as this is usually a quiet time at DW. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

We were there this past February and didn't stay long enough to take advantage of the 4/3. I was hoping for free dining, but instead they had some good deals on room rates if you stayed Sun-Thursday. I think I got a preferred room at Pop for $64 a night. If you go to Mousesavers.com there is a section with historical deals that takes you back a few years to see what specials for given.

BTW, we went the first week in February and LOVED it. The weather is unpredictable so pack accordingly. I have only been to WDW in January or February so I can't compare it to the busier times, only to say that it is a good time for us and we enjoy our vacation with crowds that are very manageable.

Thank you for your input - decent room rates sounds like it could work!

When you say the weather is unpredictable, what do you mean? Is it 50 one day then 80 the next, rainy then sunshine? Along those lines?

Thank you!!
