Passports?

I know the laws are changing about passports being needed to enter the US, will we need them in Jan06 if we're flying out of Syracuse? Or can someone direct me to a website that can help? Thanks, Jen

Passports are always recommeded (I read an interesting quote in the Toronto Star yesterday that stated if you can afford to go to Florida, you can afford passports....).


There is a proposal before the US government to require passports for Canadians entering the US (from Canada) beginning in 2007. However, the Bush administration has said they are not in support, and are working to counteract it. As it stands now, no one knows when (or if) passports will be required.


If you are flying out of Syracuse, you'll need proof of citizenship when you cross the land border.

December 31, 2005 - If you are travelling in the United States en route to or from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central or South America you will need your passport.

December 31, 2006 - If you are travelling to, from or through the United States by air or sea you will need your passport.

December 31, 2007 - If you are travelling to, from or through the United States by air, sea, or land you will need your passport.
