Passports

DW & I have expired passports. Can we get these renewed or do we have to get totally new ones?

BTW, what's the procedure for getting one nowadays and what's the wait time too?

It depends on how long it has been expired.

If you do renew, it's less than a month, IIRC. I recently renewed mine, but didn't pay close attention to how long it took. You can expidite it if you need to, but I never have.

Our passports are less than 15 years old, so it looks like we can renew them by mail.

If your passport has expired, you will get a totally new one. It's just easier to do if it has "recently" expired.
