Is PassPorter or the Unofficial Guide better? And is Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids any good?

Thanks!

I dont know if this really help because I like both Passporter and UG.

UG was really useful BEFORE the trip, nice graphics and but it´s LOTS of info.

Passporter in my opinion is great to carry around the parks. It´s light and has pockets for thing that you collect on the way.

I dont know nothing about "Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids". Maybe somebody else can help... :flower:

Birnbaum is our bible for WDW. We buy both "for Kids" and the adults only version and find the tips and recommendations really helpful.

I really like the UG over passporter. Passporter had nice maps in it, but the touring plans and reviews that are offered are not good IMHO. For my upcoming trip I'm using the UG and I recently joined Tour Guide Mike (www.tourguidemike.com).

I would have to agree with above poster, UG is good before trip and I always take the Passporter and Birnbaums with me....my dd loves this book, before and during the trip and still looks thru it. I was amazed at all the tips she pulled out of the book!!!!!!!!! a little planner!!!! :earsgirl: hope this helps!!!!

I try to buy a PassPorter and an UG every year. I love reading them both and I thing they are the two top guide books out there. I don't use any touring guides. So those aren't a big deal for me. But I like the 'hones' info UG has and I love the ability to use the PassPorter as a trip diary. We read and reread them over the years.

I do get Birnbaum's WDW for Kids for my dd each year. She has quite a collection now. They offer some neat stuff, from a child's perspective. I think it helps the kids feel more like part of the group when you are in 'planning' mode.

I also love the convenience of the Passporter. It's easy to carry around and has those great pockets for keeping important papers organized.

My kids do like the WDW for Kids books also. Good choices.

My kids love the Birbaum book "For Kids by Kids", even on the years we don't have a vacation planned at Disney we still buy the book. They love to read it and plan ahead.

Have a great trip!!!

I use TourGuide Mike for planning. I use Passporter for organizing and for in-room reference once there. And we check the Birnbaum's for Kids out of the library before the trip so the kids can look through it and pick the things they'd like to do.

I just picked up a copy of UG because of the Bham connection. One of my dd's doctors contributes to it. She got excited because the doctor with the dog in her office does part of it. :) If you get one make sure you get the revised 2005 version so all the ticket info, dining plan info, etc. is correct.

I have never tried the UG touring plans...others swear by them. This will be our third trip with TGM and we've never been in a line for longer than 10 mins following the plans. He also has hints for each ride...best place to sit, how to keep younger kids from getting scared, etc.

JMHO,

I have the UG & the Passporter. The UG has alot of good information along with an updated website...touringplans.com The Passporter has detailed park maps and is more of an organizer. I love my Passporter because when I read a few tips on DIS I write it on a sticky and add it to my Passporter. I have recently joined tourguidemike but you definitely need alot of time to figure all the links and information out.

If you have children, we highly, highly recommend Birnbaum's WDW for Kids. Our DD (5) has had them since our first trip when she was 2 (we used to read them out loud to her before bedtime!) and we think it made a big difference in her comfort level and enjoyment of the parks.

Our older DD (10) take the UG with her everywhere once we tell them there is a trip coming up. Younger DD (8) has started that with the Birmbaums for Kids. I have always sworn by the UG, but I found a link from www.allearsnet.com that is for a program for Palm/PDA users. It is also great. Lets you download menus, transportation routes, EMH, etc. Now we all have our standbys!

I'd have to go with Passporter and TourGuideMike.com for the most up to date and usable info. The kids love Birnnaum's for the photos but there's really nothing useful in there for trip planning.
