I have a couple of questions for the DIS experts-

DH is going to Naussa to go fishing/scuba diving in May
we get to go to DW in March for his "fun" now :cool1:

Does he need a passport to fly into Naussa?

if not, he has his birth cert and has just renewed his drivers license- they clip the corner and give you a paper "receipt" (it is yellow and big) to show that you revewed it- will they give him a hard time about the license?

thanks

Thought I'd respond since I went to Nassau for a week last November. I'm confused about the renewed license - in my experience, any odd thing will cause a HUGE problem, and I would never ever go anywhere again without a passport. Here's why: I had just renewed my license also. My husband had a passport, I did not. I reviewed everything at home, but did not double check the tiny print on my license, just that it was current. I went through Customs and Security in Philadelphia and waited an hour to board. Upon boarding, the woman at the gate checked my documents and saw that my license did not match my birth certificate because there was a typo on my license. Instead of October 23rd, it said October 21st as my birth date. Needless to say, I did not board the flight that morning.
Long story short, I had to go back to MV and get a new corrected license. My husbands, btw, was also wrong on the birthday, but since he had a passport, they waved him through (although he chose to stay with me and we boarded a flight that night). What a huge inconvenience, not to mention the upset my kids went through having to fly down with their grandparents instead. Also, according to the airport security, had it slipped through and I traveled to Nassau with the incorrect documents, they would have stopped me on the other end - at the Nassau airport and DEPORTED me, which is a $10,000 fine and 24 delay. So please, if possible, get the passport!! I did in January before the rates went up, and it is the only way you are assured easy, uncomplicated travel these days. Just my opinion! Melissa

when we flew to the bahamas a few years ago, we only had our drivers lics. & our birth certif. and we had no problem. matter of fact dSIL had a ticket so she had a state phote id and her birth certif. , no problem. when we were leaving the bahamas no one asked any of us for our birth certif. just a photo id. and i am not sure what you mean about your dh drivers lics corner clipped, i will leave that question for someone else to answer, sorry.

the Drivers license here in MN are credit card size.

what they do is have you keep your "old" license and the paper that you fill out with the receipt attached to it. they mail you the new one in 1 to 8 weeks.

DH is going 5/19 so hopefully it will arrive before they leave.
He just needs to know if you HAVE to have a passport or is the birth cert and drivers license ok.

I think it is 2006 that the new passport law is going into effect.....
