In doing my research for our flight for Walt Disney World, I was considering renting a car, instead of DME. However, I found this disclaimer, relating to renting a car with Alamo from the Orlando/Sanford Airport

Drivers must be at least 21 years of age at the time of the rental. Drivers age 21-25 will be charged an additional $25 per day at the time of pick up.
All rentals require a clean driving record. A major credit card and a valid driver's license in the name of the renter will be required at the time of rental. Debit and check cards, considered to be any non-credit card bearing the Visa or MasterCard logo (except for gift/prepaid cards) may only be used in conjunction with proof of round trip ticket (airline, cruise ship and the like). A passport is required for all non-U.S. citizens.

The last line states that passports are required for all non- US Citizens. Has anyone else encountered this? That could be a real hassle for a Canadian who drove down, and then had their car break down/accident/stolen -- can't get a rental unless you brought your passport.

I have never been asked for a passport to rent a car in Florida - you definatly need a credit card though!

I'd call the rental agency direct though and check it out.

I have rented with alamo 3 times and had no request for passport. They don't consider Canadians as international tourists. You will have no problems.

we just rented in orlando...never asked for one aqt all..didnt even ask at the boarder at queenston..or the airport...or anywhere at all....so donnt worrie..they were never even brought up anywhere..we just came home saturday from all star music

I had read that too before we rented two weeks ago while there, and the way I understood it was you needed a passport if you weren't paying with a valid credit card. Never asked for anything but my driver's license and credit card.
