Passport question

Are you flying at any point of this trip ? If you are flying into any foreign country for this cruise you will need a passport.

If you are traveling by land and sea only your kids Birth certificates will do but they have to be original with a raised stamp no photo copies.

I do want to stress that this will change very soon and it really is best to spend the money as soon as you can affored it and get passports for your kids. Total cost per child will be $82.00 good for 5 years if they are under 16 yrs of age. If your kids are under the age of 14 both parents need to be present in order to apply for the kids passports.

I just started working for the Passport information center (this week still training) so this was a great question for me LOL.

I am not 100% sure I am giving you the right info so PLEASE call

its the Passport Information Center

Thanks! We won't be flying. As for both parents being present, I can have my dd's fill out a form consenting to the passport so he doesn't need to be there. That is another problem - one of the kids that we're taking isn't a family member, and her mom will probably have a difficult time getting her father to sign the passport papers (he's a deadbeat). I know there's a contingency for that, but again that's why I'm wondering if we'll even need to worry about it. The rules keep changing and they're clear as mud!

I have an odd passport question. You don't UPDATE your passport photo right? What you've got when you get it is what stays for 10 years (or 5 for kids)? That seems so weird to me as you really can change how you look over the course of that many years.

My dh had a new picture taken when he renewed his passport.

Stephanie, If your husband/kids dad cant be there you have to

Present evidence of child's US citizenship
Present evidence that they are the parents or guardian and
Show valid personal ID AND
Sign and take an oath before am authorized passport acceptance agent

If 2nd parent is not available to sign

Do all the above AND
Present evidence of

sole custody (court order has to be PROOF)
notarized written consent of the other parent for the issuance of the passport or
written statement explaining why non-applying parents consent cannot be obtained.

Your right the rules are like MUD but I took this from my pages I learned last night so this is the most up date info.

If you can please get the kids a passport, someone said something about an emergency and if you end up in a country that requires a passport you may be screwed !!!!

Your sister in law is going to have a hard time if she cant find the kids dad or her wont sign. He has every right not to sign even being a dead beat dad. If she goes to court and gets sole custody she will then be able to get the passport without him.

The rules suck for woman and men who do have that dead beat parent but the laws are there to protect kids in danger of being taken aways from a caring parent.
