Passport photos

My two DDs need new adult passports which I’ll need to mail off by the end of the month. Does anyone know — besides Costco — where I can get passport photos done in Ontario during lockdown?

The Costco near me doesn’t have a photo service anymore & last lockdown, Costco had a limit of 2 people per household so I don’t want to try and drive to another location just to be turned away.

You could try Shoppers. In the beforetimes, they used to do it. Not sure about during lockdown, though.

Walmart does them as well, not sure about during lockdown the photo department was open on Dec 26th at my Walmart though so I'd guess they will do them.

I don't know if they are available during lockdown, but in late November I was able to get passport pictures taken at our local CAA Travel Store.

Other possible options - stores that do passport pictures AND are open during lockdown [though passport photos may not be a service available during lockdown]:

Walmart

I used to do it at Henry's but my local one shut down.

If you're in Markham I'm not sure which Costco is your local but there are two more within reasonable distance, plus Newmarket.

Thanks. I’m right near Markham East Costco. They stopped having a photo lab in October. I heard the other one did, but I never go to that Markham location. It had some charges against it for Covid rule violations.

The last time I went to Newmarket in early November, the worker at their photo lab said they would be shutting down soon too. I don’t know if that’s the case. I could go to Ajax, but that’s switching regions.

Pretty disappointed Costco started to shut down their photo counters but that’s another issue.

I never heard of that company in your link, but they do have locations nearby and their website say they are open except for their mall locations.

So looks like I can try Shoppers, Walmart, a further Costco, or that one you linked. Thanks everyone for the help. I do have caa too but I doubt they are allowed to be open right now.

It looks like the CAA Travel stores are probably closed for in store activities. At least they are in Ottawa, so I assume they will be in the rest of the province.

I would think Shoppers and Walmart are your best bet, but suggest you call the store first.

However they have a note they are closed for in store shopping but are open for mail and shipping services. Since usually the passport photos are taken in the mail/shipping area, you may be in luck. Could be worth the call.

The UPS Store. They are considered an essential business [shipping services] so are open. They do passport photos. Call first to verify.

Yes - they were the locations listed under the “Pro passport” website. Each location sets their own prices — and they are open. Priced $11.99-$14.99.
walmart was priced $12.97-$15.99 depending on where I looked.
Shoppers $19.99
Costco $6.99 but location closest with photo is Richmond Hill for me
CAA definitely closed.

So now I will decide tomorrow how far I’m willing to drive — and whether I want to fight crowds — to get the best price.
