Yesterday morning I went to take in our passport applications to the Kitchener location. I arrived at 9:55am. I openned the door and there was a line up of about 20 people waiting in line to get a number, and all of the waiting room chairs were occupied. I thought, I am glad I had brought lunch for me and the kids with me. I was prepared for the long wait.
The line that assigned numbers was a prescreening, to determine if you had all your documents in order. They also fast tracked me because I filled my forms out on the internet. It took about 10 minutes to go through this line. I then went to find a seat, and my number was called before I could even sit down.
I was applying for my husband, myself and my 2 children's passports, so it took about 10 minutes to complete the process. I had a very nice and polite woman. I heard a security man stay to the people in line for a number that the wait was approx. 1 hr and 1/2.
I was told to expect my passports around March 14. We will see if that happens.
So if at all possible try to fill out your applications online. Thanks to the DIS I decided to go to the Kitchener office over the Hamilton office. Good luck to other DISers in your application process!
