Evie will need a passport soon as we will be taking her to Ireland to meet her relatives and perhaps to France to see some friends. I'ma bit worried about the photo! For a start she's hardly ever awake in the day to get her photo done! How have others had their photos done? Any tips?

TIA. Verity and Evie.

Couldn't resist adding a sneaky photo!

Bless!

With DD I used some photos she had done in hospital but I haven't done DS's yet - not sure I have any of the Bounty Photos left.

I remember hearing horror stories about photos being rejected as baby's mouth was open etc!!!!!!! I think they have had to loosen their criteria a bit

Here is a link to the vital info http://www.ukpa.gov.uk/general_photos_babies.asp

Good Luck!

The one you've got but without her hands on her face is pretty much what's needed!

I took my daughter, when she was a baby, to a local photographer who does passport photos and they just laid her down on a white cloth, stood above her and took the photo. If you can find somewhere like that it's ideal as they know exactly what's needed and it's much easier than trying to sit a baby up in one of those little photo booths!

it seems so silly that they have such strict criteria when you only have to change the picture every 5 years.. i mean... how can a stranger recognise a 5yo from a picture of a baby!!? at least they have pictures now though... i remember only needing to have my name on my parents' passports... they could've left me on holiday and brought any kids back!

.... and I bet they were tempted Becks :rotfl2:
only kidding!
Yes, as Sarah says, thats probably the best way to do it but I totally agree its daft, a child is totally different by the time they reach, say 4, as to when they were born.

i wouldn't have minded! lol.... living in the south of france! all that sun... crepes... wine... cheese.... ok now i'm hungry!

We got our little one's done at max spielmans, we had to hold her up in front a white background and they took a number of shots, it was perfect and they got the right shot, etc....she was around 4months old at the time.
Hope you get sorted :thumbsup2

Hope you manage to get them done.

Just wanted to add that be carefull when getting the photo's done though. It was on our local new last week that the passport office had refused a babies passport photo because they couldn't see both ears on it. :confused3 The parents had to pay for new photos and the cost again for another passport.Even though the first was refused.

I just laid DS on a white sheet and took a picture of him from his shoulders upwards and DH printed it on ths home PC. We had no problems. Good Luck :thumbsup2

Took DS (then 6 months) to our local photo shop Klick - dont know if you have those where you live. I had to hold him up at arms length to the side of me (if you see what I mean!), then they took photo and developed it.
Unfortunately the photos didnt seem to work first time, or second, or even third! Thankfully, they managed to get it right by photo number 4 - my arms were really aching by then. They were really good though.
Got to agree though, there is no resemblance once they get older. DS is now 3 and even I dont recognise him in his passport photo - you think theyd have a better system in place for babies / children by now.

My daughter had hers done at 7m old, she is now 4 and when she saw that she has a baby photo on her passport she was not very happy. What was funny was that at CDG airport they were looking at her to see if she looked like the photo!

We had DS passport pic taken when he was just 1 week old!!! We took him to the local chemist who knew the criteria for the pics! I would suggest wearing a dark colour like red or brown - if you wear creams or pinks they can make the baby look too pale. Also it does not matter if babies eyes are closed!!

Your DD is beautiful!!
