Passive agressive nonsense on facebook...

I love the ones that post something like "Mary is leaving Facebook, goodbye" When they don't get the follow up posts begging them to stay, they just act like they never posted it in the first place and are still on FB:rotfl: I saw a post from someone the other day saying "Is sick of all these FB friends trying to know my business!!" umm, then maybe stop posting it??

I didn't realize that the "text me" thing was so common. I recently became FB friends with an acquaintance's daughter (who is also somewhat of an acquaintance). I hardly know her at all. I've noticed she says "text me" after she posts anything :confused3. It makes me feel sad for her because it sounds like a plea for attention, and I always assume it's directed towards some boy she likes, even though that might not be the case. I read "Text me" as "I've texted you over and over and you haven't texted me back!!! Text me!!!" But maybe it's just directed at anyone and everyone and is some sort of weird teen greeting. If I knew her better, I'd post "Okay, what's your #?".

. . . says the person with over 300 posts on here since August. ;) I'm on Myspace, Twitter, and Facebook and I don't think I've updated the three combined 300 times in the last 2 months.

I enjoy Facebook, but as with anything else it has the potential to cause problems. I refuse to get sucked in to passive aggressive nonsense on there. If one of my friends can't deal with conflict like an adult and uses their status to make oblique comments aimed at someone else, that's an automatic "ignore" from me.

I guess I'm the pot calling the kettle :lmao: but I have time to kill at my day job being on the computer all day anyway, I have a lot of extra time to Dis, plus I love Disney and Universal so the happiest places on earth are my passion (one of them.) ;)

And yet....here you are.

Funny thing about Facebook - it's pretty darn similar to these boards except it's with people we actually know.

I'm sorry, but it cracks me up, people coming on here acting like they are too good to Facebook. We FBers are at least interacting with people we know in the flesh. I'm not saying one is better than the other. In fact they are quite different. The difference is, if I were to die today, most of my FB friends would know and probably care. When a FB friend posts an issue, event or problem, I actually care. FB friendships are ones which directly correspond to real-life, in-the-flesh interactions.

So in comparison, if any "social" website is a waste of time, take a look at your address bar right now.

I didn't mean I was too "good" to facebook. Facebook is totally different than an anonymous message board about Disney. Facebook is a social network where you put yourself "out there" so to speak to socialize. I have no desire or interest in putting myself "out there". As I said, not that there is anything wrong with it. I just thought it was funny that this 80 year old lady I know is Facebooking. :lmao: Facebook is fine if that's what you want to do, just meant its not for me.

The Dis is totally different IMO than Facebook or Twitter. Those are communication outlets for people you know, this is an anonymous message board and I like to talk and help people out with stuff about Disney and Universal.

You're not the only one to express those thoughts here and after a while it gets frustrating and insulting. I had a problem with the "is life that boring?" and "go out and do something" sentiments.

I remember as a kid, all the adult women I knew would spend so much time yacking and yacking and yacking on the phone. Does anyone else remember trying to get mom's attention and she was just endlessly chattering on the phone? Well, this "excessive computer use," such as Facebook, seems to have taken place of that. Just a more efficient way of socializing when you can't be face to face.

hahahahahaha i cant agree with everyone more! reading through the posts on this topic has really cracked me up ;)

i would say my BIGGEST pet peeve on facebook is definetly people who post for attention. I know people in real life who do everything in their power to be "noticed" and it definetly translates to facebook. This one girl in particular will ALWAYS post these obnoxious status messages that cry out for pity and attention and at the same time rubs things in peoples noses! I dont think ive ever met someone who needed such a reality check!

she will post things like "OMG my husband is the best guy ever!! everyone should be so jealous because he does everything he can to make me happy!!!"

and later the same day something like..."my life is so terrible! everyone is such a backstabber! who are my real friends????"

UGH...so annoying.

LOL...yeah, in the kitchen, we had a "wall" phone. My brother and I always talk about how mom was around that corner, blah blah blahing to her friends. All we would see was the cord wrapping around the corner, and hear her voice. The corner of that wall was rubbed and worn from the cord always rubbing against it!

And think about it...that was before cordless phones. At least when *I* am "blah blah blahing" on the phone, I am also doing chores!

Facebook really can be a timesaver. Post a pic of your new puppy and everyone sees it at once! Announce you are having a get together, and everyone sees it.

For me, it has been a nice addition to my already full life...just added another dimension.

I hate this too!I read an article once about how Facebook just feeds many peoples narcissism. I have a FB to keep in touch with long distance family and friends and I choose not to write status messages because I don't want to come off as bragging. We vacation a lot and I wouldn't want to write that all the time"oh ,I'm packing again" lol It just isn't like me to do that.
