I got a thank you letter this week for renewing my annual pass. The last paragraph says: "And because you're a passholder, you can get in on a special preview of one of our newest attractions, Soarin' - before its official opening. It's a high-flying adventure over some of the most spectacular natural wonders on the planet, and you get to be among the first to experience it! Visit disneyworld.com/passholder for all the details. I went to the passholder site and couldn't find any information on the special preview dates. Anyone know when they will be?

Sorry, I don't know, but I just wanted to get in on this thread. We will be there April 22nd - May 1st and I am sooo hoping for a passholder preview.

they're just teasing you right now, there are no official dates for the preview. but I'm sure the soft opening will begin around the middle of april.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for a Preview 4/16 - 4/25.......

I just purchased APs for our family...won't be activated until our trip in April, however, so I know I cannot check the passholder website until after they are activated...will we still be able to take advantage of any soft opening preview if they have one during our trip? If so, how could we find out about it? Call the front desk of the hotel during our stay? TIA for any advice...I can't wait to see this attraction!

Here's the link to the little snippet showing what Soarin is supposed to be like. It looks like so much fun!!! I will be there in March and May and hope that it will be up and running for one of the trips. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=SoarinAttractionPage Turn on your sound. Just watching this tiny teaser makes me want to experience this attraction!!

Hope this link works. If not, just go to disneyworld.com and click on Epcot for the 50 years celebration information.

We rode Soarin' in DL in April 4 times! It is the only ride my DH has stood in line for for more than 10 minutes! Our whole family votes it as their fav ride in all of WDW and DL. At DL, it is very well done, gave me chill bumps, and brought tears to my eyes. The movie is beautiful and you really feel as if you are flying.

Be sure to ask for the first row; wait if you have to. You will not be disappointed!

We are going in 2 weeks and my DH, who is not a WDW fan, wants to return during the 50th celebration so we can experience Soarin' again! If you only knew, this is HIGH praise indeed!!!!

I agree. It's easily one of the best rides Disney has ever built. I'm going to be at WDW from 4/17-4/24 and am also hoping for a soft opening.

We live in Californina and have Disneyland season passes, if you haven't rode "Soarin" yet you guys are surely gonna LOVE it!! Ca.Adventure is not the greatest park but Soarin definately makes the admission well worth it! Its such a great ride!!!! I wonder if it is gonna be exactly the same? I guess I'll have to go back to WDW to find out!!

You guys are gonna LOVE it! :flower1:

We went on Soarin in DL back in 2001. DH and I loved it...but my older teens hated it!! Can u believe that!! They dubbed it "Snorin' over California".

Go Figure!! :smooth:

This might be a stupid question but do you have to be an annual pass holder to take advantage of "soft" openings - we will be there apr 14-23 and would love to experience this new attraction!!!

I don't know about at WDW, but at DL we didn't have to be. We were there when they opened their Pooh ride in 2003, and for most of the days of the soft opening, anyone could ride it. There was only one certain day during that time that was for AP holders only.

Depends on how tall your children are. The height restriction is 40 inches or taller.

Usually they have an AP or DVC only preview for a couple days before they open it up to the general public.

Oh and about the motion sickness - my daughter, who is extremely sensitive to motion rode this at DL and said it was wonderful!! She didn't have any problems whatsoever. She said that the motion of the seats that you are sitting in and what you are seeing on the screen is so well coordinated that you don't get queasy at all. She also said it was so realistic that when you "fly" over the tree tops people tend to lift their feet so as not to brush the tops of the trees!

soft openings are open to all, but you never know when they'll be.thye tendo to just open up the line for periods of time. you might not get to experience the entire attraction, but with soarin', who knows? they might be working on the queue that day so you could miss it, etc. but a soft opening is better than nothing.

For those of you that have been on it at dL, what kind of seats does it have? Does it have a seat belt or a bar?

It's a shoulder harness type thing that lowers down. You then snap a seat belt in between your legs. That's such a bad description, but I hope you get the picture.

The Soarin attraction in Florida is going to be Soarin over Florida or Soarin over America or Soarin over what? I love the one in Cali, it's one of the best rides there.

It's going to start out with the California movie, then it's supposed to be something else later after they film a new movie for the ride. The strongest rumor is Soarin' over America.
