I am trying to do some math on whether or not there would be a significant savings if I upgraded one of our park hoppers to a Deluxe AP for our trip next summer. I see there are 10% discounts for some merchandise and resturants. It mentions discounts off the hotel but no amount is mentioned.

Does anyone have any insight as to what the typical percentage off would be at DLH for a summer month with the DAP? Or if it was worth it to have the AP for discounts? Or if I am once again over thinking this whole thing which will result in :badpc::headache::

Sorry...can't help with the discount on hotels as I don't know but you may want to make sure your dates aren't blocked out for the DAP for the summertime. I was looking at getting a deluxe for our trip in December/October but the Dec time frame is all blocked out for the time we want to go so if I want to get an AP I have to go premium.

Hi Shawna,

Remember the DAP has some blackout dates so it looks like you won't be able to go into the parks on Saturdays during the summer months (nor on 4th of July weekend). Only the PAP allows 365 day access.

The AP hotel discounts are always 10% unless there is a special running. It's probably unlikely that the busy summer months will offer a higher discount, especially with Carsland being new - even next summer. The rule of thumb is to count what you would save on merchandise and food (and the 10% on the hotel) and how many days you will be in the parks for the entire year you have the pass. It isn't recommended to count on a possible higher hotel discount when you are factoring it all in.

Sorry, I wish it was better news. We hoped for an AP discount this November during a very slow week but so far there is none. Very disappointing.

To give you an idea, this year the AP rate for a standard room at the DLH for the end of this month and into Sept. is $270 - $293 (before taxes). I'm not sure if June & July were any different.

Rhonna :)

btw, are you done with our disney DVD's? ;)

I remember seeing higher rates than that for standard DLH on the AP calendar in July.

Our plan is to get there on Sunday, which isn't blocked out, and leave on Saturday. We usually leave for the airport around noonish so that day is more of a sleep in and peruse DTD for last minute goodies to take home. So that aspect would work.

As far as the hotel discount, it sounds like the most I could hope for is 10%; which is nothing to sneeze at when staying 6 nights. I'll have to do some more math and see if its worth it. I do have 10 months so hopefully I can figure it out by then. :rotfl:

Oh Rhonna, you funny lady. :goodvibes Yes, we have finished the DVDs and will return them to 'the library' asap. ;) Perhaps we can peruse for our next rentals...

One more thing. It seems that often if there are bigger AP hotel discounts, there are public discounts for the same amount. Of course if there is NO public discount there is still the AP 10% discount, no matter when you go.
