Has anyone been able to purchase UPH in advance when stying on rented points? We are members and our DD is staying at OKW on points she rented from another member. No one will sell her the UPH passes in advance. Not the front desk at OKW, not MS because they don't sell tickets, not Disney Travel Company, not the Disney Club :(

I sent an e-mail to guest services and the only repsonse was a form email telling me how glad they are that we are planning to visit again. Not even an acknowledgement of the issue. Just a advertisement for the Park Hopper plus tickets.

Maybe she should buy a UPH for 2 less days and visit US/IOA

DVC members can't buy UPH tickets in advance, only upon check-in. Since she's staying on points that's what she'll have to do, or buy a PH ticket.

But she is not a member, thus not eligable for the Member Discount at check-in.

She'll either have to wait and pay full-price, or buy a PH ticket. Disney won't sell a UPH ticket unless you have a room reservation through them. Since your DD has a points reservation through MS, unforunately she's out of luck in trying to buy a UPH before check-in.

I'm not sur eI agree. We had friends in their own room on our points on our last visit and they got to use the discount.

I may be confused (wouldn't be the first time) but I thought as long as you were staying on points your door card (key) says Member and you're entitled to member discounts while staying at a DVC resort.

I rented points and the room key said "member" so when I went to the health club, I got a discount on a massage even though I TOLD the guy "I'm not a member - I rented points from a member for this trip" - he said, "your card says member so you get the discount"

Not sure if that is the way it always works or not but it did that time.

The written definition for getting the member discount on the UPH is that the member has to be staying in the unit on points in order for the member and his/her guests who are also in that unit to get the discount. Guests not in the unit where the member is staying aren't entitled to the discount. This does not appear to always be equally enforced but that's the way it is laid out.

I KNOW my family and friends have gotten the discount. They did not even know there was a discount in one instance.

Also, why do you need to buy it in advance. Just buy it when you get there. That makes it much easier if you need to drop the first or last day.

I am a member, now, but I have rented twice, and both times I was automatically given the member discount on UPH when we checked in. Hope this helps.

As otherwise noted, DVC doesn't care enough to worry about this issue. Also, I don't think this perk requires the member to be in the room, I think the written rules say guest as well. I'm not where I can check right now.
