Passengers on cruise ship docked near New York City will be assessed for coronavirus

Those passengers embarked on their cruise before the tighter restrictions took effect last week. It sounds more like the screening they are doing for the few flights still coming in from China, as opposed to a concern with actual illness as in the Diamond Princess situation. The 24 passengers who may have been to China recently are being checked, not all onboard.

We cruise next week so this was a little concerning however we've gotten multiple emails from DCL stating they will not allow anyone to board the ship who has traveled through China or Hong Kong in the last 2 weeks so I'm staying optimistic!

So my problem with this is you have some people that are being screened but the rest of the people can disembark . Don't they think there was any contact with the other 3,000 plus passengers?

It sounds to me that since they are saying they are "below low risk" for coronavirus, the history part of the screening likely rules it out. Perhaps the time for when they were in China and when they started developing symptoms were not consistent with corona exposure. Have to believe they have a lot of confidence it's not the real thing for them to just hospitalize 4 and send the whole rest of the boat on their way, along with continue the next cruise as well.
